Man, what a game! I read the play-by-play before looking at the boxscore or knowing who won, and we trailed most of it. We did get the lead a couple of times in the first half, but only once in the second, and that was with 45 seconds ! Sometimes, if you just keep at it, you wind up ahead at the end, no matter how hard it seems.

Both teams had foul trouble, which was by my design. It turned out a bit less well for me than I'd expected, but I still think it was the right call...and regardless, we won!

In the meantime, so did Boston University and University of Pennsylvania. I'm rooting for them.

The only area we don't tie or beat Memphis is in rebounding. I'll discuss my gameplans after my run is over, but in the meantime, I'm very happy to be moving on to the Sweet Sixteen. Boston University made it as well. Penn lost to Indiana.

This was a fairly close game for a while. I think the point when it started to get out of reach was:

13:30Abate misses a 3 from the wing44 - 49
13:2944 - 49Bell comes down with the board
13:1644 - 49Peele is fouled under the basket by Larry Criner, prior to the shot. Foul #2 on Criner [team foul #4]
13:16
D. Page (pf), M. Sayers (c), J. Shue (sg), D. Burns (sf), L. Jones (pg)
P. Richards, J. Abate, K. Biesenthal, J. Williams, L. Criner
44 - 49
S. Sun (pg), I. Farrer (pf)
A. Spies, R. Bell
12:5244 - 52Sun hits a 3 and is fouled! Foul #1 on Joe Shue [team foul #5]
12:5244 - 52
J. Gunning (sg), B. Carlos (sf)
L. Gaughan, A. Renteria
12:5244 - 53Sun makes the free throw

Regardless, I'm very happy with my year, as it turned out.

Coach, that was a tough sweet 16 matchup. The guys did the best they could. We still had a great season - maybe next season we can take the next step to the Elite 8...

Coach,

I just wanted to send you a quick note to congratulate you on the great season. You're making me look like a genius (and the FU boosters and alumni are even happy). Why shouldn't they be?

Sweet Sixteen Appearance

Quite the season!

I am unhappy to say that our prestige stayed at a B.

You send a ticket? I'm sure they'll mumble something about the conference, but that's beyond weak. If you'd just squeaked into the NT, maybe. But S16? Come on?!

Dan, you're right, and I've sent in a ticket about it. I've got to be the equivalent of a Gonzaga by now.

And it's not even like your conference was that bad. You guys were 11th, right behind the PAC-10, and sent three to the NT (including two in the S16).
By comparison, UNC is still sitting at an A after a 12-16 season and 6-21 the season before.
I understand that ACC is really strong, but the biggest factor has to be what your team is doing on the court -- the conference should just be a mitigating factor.
