PACKERS: Datone Jones is latest DL bust drafted Topic

possibly, but even more blue collar.

With numbers of healthy safeties dwindling, the Packers released Aaron Rouse today and signed veteran Matt Giordano, who has started six and played 55 games with the Colts in his career.

No explanation given as yet for Rouse's release. He appeared to suffer a stinger injury on Sunday.

What happened to all this depth the Packers supposedly had?

Ted Thompson is going to have a lot of explaining to do.

Giordano was a decent role player for the Colts, for what it's worth.

There's only so much depth at a position like safety...both the Packers' starters and their top backup all got hurt. I don't know how many teams could absorb something like that without having to go sign someone.

Pluswhise the Packers insist on carrying THREE fullbacks on the roster.

Yep, 3 fullbacks and only 2 active runningbacks.

Bibgy, Collins and Rouse were injury prone last season.

If the Pack were concerned about Rouse in the pre-season why did they keep him?

The prevailing theory is that because Teddie drafted Rouse, he got more chances than other players might. Rouse was kept over free agent signee Anthony Smith, who made some big plays in the preseason but was also out of position nearly as often as Rouse (and had a bigger contract).

Smith and Ruvell Martin both ended up in St. Louis, by the way.. I don't think either was active today.

Packers bounce back with a win in St. Louis. ARodg throws for two TDs and runs for another, Ryan Grant runs for 99 yards, and Donald Driver makes an incredible one-handed catch on the sidelines.

The defense, however, was still a bit shaky against the run. Next week's showdown at Minnesota and AP does not look like a win.

But then again, Favre + Packers' ball-hawking DB's could be a nice matchup to keep the Pack in the game.

Favre has been doing a much better job of decision-making thus far. His first INT on the season was in the 3rd quarter yesterday, and it took a deflected ball to have it picked.

Yeah, I've seen that. I didn't watch the game yesterday but I read that several more balls he threw could've been picked off. If you have to put the game on his shoulders, he'll throw picks. If he's only passing to keep teams honest and off AP, he'll throw a lot less. That's why it's crucial the Pack stop the run Monday.

The Ochocinco Leap was pretty damn funny!!!

Why is this not a flag?

So if a visiting player does it, it should be a flag? Loosen up. The players should be able to have fun playing this game, Goodell's a little *****
Isn't the Lambeau leap a planned celebration? What was fun was TO planting a cell phone, or a sharpie to sign a ball. Just sayin'

That's true that he did throw several balls in the Niner game that could have been picked, but thus far, I've been pleased with his performance overall. I still think he's better than the others on the roster.

You better hope though that Capers doesn't try to blitz Favre a lot, because he was killing the 49ers early on off the blitzes. If the Packers decide to sit back in coverage, they'll be able to control him more. Of course, that means the guys up-front on the Packers line will have to do a solid job run-blocking (as you said), otherwise AD will eat them alive.
