TV watching Saturday(US soccer, CWS and MLB, MMA), softball on Sunday filled my days.

Not much.  But I'm 7 years older and I think I've mellowed out a bit.

I took over a middling team that is light on minor league talent. At the rookie level there are some players who have virtually no chance to be anything but weak mnor league players. Should I just release them now while they are really cheap?

No, you'll need them as minor league filler.   You'll find that the vast majority of your minor league players have no shot at the bigs.   For the most part, you can only add 3-5 BL-quality prospects in any given year.

The simple math says "yes" but I think it's more about total posts.   You have someone blocking you every 21.5 posts.    I get 32.3 posts in before someone else blocks me.  So I could argue that you're more hated.
