I was in the middle of looking for a player when you posted. I got the okay at 2 something to make a pick and you posted at 430 or so that you had an issue. I didn't pick up the site mail until after 4 and I didn't see your post until I posted my pick. At that time we would have been at 26 hours. If you want to put this on me fine. Keep the guy you picked, keep the 500 k and I will repick and keep the string going between you and shaw. I truly don't care. It's a simulation game for god sake. Ridiculous.

It's my strategy - having two consecutive picks - may - be very beneficial.  I would really like 3-4 in a row.  Missing a pick was laid out in the original rules.  I really don't see an issue.  However, in the spirit of brotherhood, I will make a pick tonight, if I may please have Jeff Cirillo (thanks pg99, who couldn't wait one more minute) and am not penalized in the cap.  Now that solution would be just.
Isn't it great "in the spirit of brotherhood" how someone always has to try to cheat. Now you are trying to make a pick that you missed 1 whole round ago. And in the process are blaming pg99 for picking TOO SOON even after he waited the 24 hours like he was suppose to.
Always trying to cheat?  You sir have a foul sense reality.  It was laid out in the original rules AND confirmed by the commissioner on page 11 of this thread.  I would not have intentionally missed any picks.  Having one pick at the end is of no real value.  Having two, or more, consecutive picks at the end, may, be of significant value.

Earlier in the draft, the time I did forget, I was out of town, and hadn't picked in four days, so yes, I forgot.  I signed on the site, and immediately realized my pick was overdue.  I immediately posted this note "sorry guys, been out of town, parents weekend at my daughters college.  I will make pick in a few moments."  I picked within three minutes.  However, a few seconds, literally seconds, pg99 jumped me, despite my note.  Yes, we had the same time stamp.  I didn't complain to the message board.  I didn't complain to the commissioner.  I was late and it was my fault.  PG99 and my picks were both time stamped 4:31pm, were perfectly compatible with the "alphabet" rules.  But there would be no go along and get along thrown my way...

So, yes, feel free and replace me.  I do not care.  When confronted with a lemon, I made lemonade - following the rules.  Maybe, just maybe, I outsmarted some people.

If you want me to continue, I am "passing" this round.  If you insist on inventing new rules, in mid draft - then my price is my earlier pick which was denied, despite an identical time stamp.

whatever...

So you're doing this because you're upset by something that was clearly in the rules.  It wouldn't have really mattered if pg99 had posted before you or not, the 24 hours had passed and I had given him the go ahead to make his selection.  And now you're just using that rule to your advantage out of revenge, oh and also because back to back picks is very obviously a clear advantage.

It is amazing that you accuse him of being upset by something "clearly in the rules", but you are getting upset by him doing something that is "clearly in the rules"(and even approved by you).

Ok, since I have opened my big mouth here and voiced opposition to an intentionally missed pick I am going to make one last comment and be done.
First, My apologies to SpotSell. I am sorry for accusing you of trying to cheat, whether it was your intent or not.
I for one did not notice or take the time to look that closely at the time of your posts when you made the Jeff Cirillo pick. I didn't see that the pick was made at the exact same time as pg99 made his pick. I have noticed it now and I would actually have to side with SpotSell on this one. Especially since he made a statement just a few minutes earlier saying he would be in with his pick in a few moments.
In all reality his Jeff Cirillo pick was good even after pg99 made his pick and it very likely wouldn't have made the next pick any different either.

I know this would be making an exception to the RULES but I vote to let SpotSell have his pick of Jeff Cirillo and move on...... case closed!

Thank you Mr. Heid.

For the record Mr. Commissioner, I was not upset, at all, by my first missed pick.  As I said, it was my fault.  As I also said, I took a lemon of a situation and turned it around to my, possible, advantage.  So, Mr. Commissioner, we need you to make a decision.  Allow me to pass (within the rules), change the rules and kick me out, or I can be allowed my earlier pick, which effects no one and would have effected no one, and was made with an identical time stamp.

I'll be up another 90 minutes.

If he had mentioned that he would be out of town prior to his pick I think I might have more sympathy.  After the 24 hours had passed, which meant by rule, he was skipped and moved to the back he posted that he would make his pick, but at that point his pick had already been skipped and pg99 had already been sitemailed.  Now he's clearly just using the rules to his advantage.  It was approved by me only in the sense that there were no rules against so what could I really do at that point.  If I wanted to cover every single possible way someone could manipulate the rules, the rules could go on for days.  The dreaded 24-hour rule was inteneded for owners who could not make their pick, SpotSell is clearly able to make a pick here and several decent ones I might add.

Go ahead and give Spotsell the first MISSED pick but we still have not addressed future SKIPPED picks.

I believe a vote is underway to resolve that.

Everyone vote and let the majority rule.

I have already made a decision, I put it up to the other owners for a vote...majority rules.  I would suggest you open it and vote by the way.  Allowing you to pick even if it was just a few seconds after pg99 could have absolutely affected others selections and besides that the 24 hours had already passed.  I didn't allow specsman to pick after he returned.

I am afraid I cannot remain in a league if the rules change, in mid draft, and that change directly targets myself.

The only reason I want to pass is because my identical time stamped pick of Jeff Cirillo was not allowed.  If we are not going to follow the rules (allowing me to pass) which the commissioner confirmed we could on page 11, then allow my Cirillo pick - and I will pick shortly.  Actually, I will be on the treadmill for the next half hour.

For the record, my preference is always, always to follow the rules.

allowing you to keep Cirillo would not be following the rules by the way...

I am afraid I cannot remain in a league where people defecate all over the rules.

Oh, I think it can easily be interpreted within the rules.  The stamps were identical, and his Jeff Samardzja pick works just fine.  If my pick were one minute later, I would agree.  As I said, my preference is to follow the rules and allow my skip.  However, if you are going to change your rules, and hurt me, then make me whole by allowing me my identical time stamped pick, which effects no one.

You're in a box, I get it.  You laid out some rules, and confirmed them and would like to take it back.  You should have not taken a vote.  Sometimes a commissioner has to make a decision.  It is impossible to get 24 people to agree on anything.  You just do your best, and follow the rules you wrote.  If you make a mistake, be open and own it.  You confirmed it on page 11 - you should have admitted I played within your rules, shrugged your shoulders and moved on.  Now we are wasting time.

For the record if a post comes before another it was before the following post even if only a matter of seconds.

But that is not anywhere near the issue, the rule very clearly states "If 24 hours pass and a pick has not been made that owner will be penalized $500,000 AND the pick will be moved to the very back of the draft."

Had 24 hours passed? Absolutely and without question.

The whole thing here is we're dealing with something that is not in the rules, and when that happens the commisioner unequivocally has the last word.  And I absolutely admit I made a mistake in the rules, which I stated to everyone in the sitemail I sent.  To me, honestly I would have had less issue if you had let 24 hours pass.  To pass your pick, clearly says to me your taking advantage of a loophole.

Did I mess the rule up? Sure.  But I thought we would all be civil and sportsmanlike and make your picks when it's your turn.

Sir, on page 11, you specifically said we could intentionally skip a pick - no one objected when you said it and we moved on.  It's pretty clear it is pg99's turn to pick.  I would expect a commissioner to be civil and sportsmanlike (your words) and not change rules when confronted with a situation he doesn't like.  If you are going to hurt me, don't expect me to say thank you.  I would expect to be made whole.  I offered you a way to make me whole and to save everyone's face.

Listen, I know you are not a bad guy and have been on the sim for a long time.  I understand you are in a box.  All you have to do is follow the rules you wrote and you confirmed and everything will be fine.

Good Night.
