until he releases his tax returns. then everything goes to ****.
Dont hold your breath.... He's not going to. He doesn't have to.
And you are not troubled by that?
What will it show? That a billionaire uses all kinds of tax loopholes? Who cares.

I'm not a blind Trump ball-sucker like moy but I couldn't give two ***** about Trump and his tax returns. Has nothing to do with how he'd perform as a President.

What's he hiding?
What do you think? Do you think he's doing something illegal?

I wouldn't release them because it gives Dems all kinds of taking points to use against him.

Trump won't release them because people are demanding he do so. That's how he manipulates the media. And gets free coverage.

Media: "Trump won't release his tax returns."
Trump Tweet: "they wont me to release my tax returns. there huge. no one has tax returns like me. #buildawall"

Moy, I believe the latest conspiracy theory is that the tax returns will reveal ties to the mafia. It's really interesting how the pattern continues where people against Trump suggest that such and such development will FINALLY be his downfall. I don't know how one could think that based on how many times this hasn't happened as anticipated.

I think that the Clinton disclosures are far more damaging than anything to be found in Trump's tax returns. We just don't make a big deal out of the Clinton "scandals" because we're used to the idea of Clinton being corrupt. The latest one was the arrangement to siphon Clinton Global Initiative $$$, along with almost $1 million in grant money from the federal gov't, to that company (apparently) run by one of Bill Cilnton's busty lady friends. If the NY Times or Washington Post ever found something like that on Trump, it would get far more coverage. Obviously.

Why is he asking possible running mates for their tax returns? Does he think they're doing something illegal?
5/19/2016 3:35 PM
Well isn't it normal for the nominee and their people to vet VP candidates? If you read the second Halperin/Heilemann book, it was the Romney people who vetted Christie (and found many things they didn't like).
5/19/2016 3:37 PM
Shouldn't the US electorate be allowed to vet their Presidential candidates?
5/19/2016 3:38 PM
They can choose not to vote for them. Isn't that good enough?

Trump has complied with the FEC rules. If you believe in pluralism, that comes to the same thing. If not, aren't his financials already public? I'm no accountant/businessman, but how much would the tax returns show that wasn't revealed in the documentation Trump has already made public?
5/19/2016 3:40 PM
If it's nothing more that what he's already made public, then what's the harm in releasing them? It just looks like he's hiding something.

If it is something more than what he's already made public, then what is it? What is he hiding?

His involvement in........

BENGHAZI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trump is definitely hiding something. Every nominee since 1976 has released their returns. There's something in them that Trump doesn't want everyone to see.

Alright, I've given this some thought (nothing like an exercise bike to get the blood flowing), and here's my answer.

Trump's income this fiscal year was almost $600 million. He must have revenue coming in from a wide variety of places. And, as a native New Yorker, I can tell you, Manhattan isn't politically sympathetic with right-wingers, at least not usually. Trump is based in Manhattan and has a lot of business there.

The NY Times and Washington Post each has 20 reporters working around the clock to find dirt on Trump.

It's a general principle of life that people who really want to "find" something do "find" it, whether it's there or not. Look at WMD's and Iraq, or for that matter, this latest story in the NY Times about Trump's behavior towards women.

The problem here is the fact that there's an outstanding audit on Trump. You get all those reporters digging into all those cash sources, maybe a pro-Hillary CEO makes some allegations about hidden revenue streams, and suddenly you've got a massive story, with many people calling for the IRS to go ahead and press charges for tax evasion.

On top of this, as you may or may not know, the head of the IRS has had so many meetings at the White House under the Obama Presidency that as of when Jon Stewart (and the media generally) reported this, I believe he was the person with the MOST White House meetings of all. And then there's the widespread claims that right-leaning interest groups have been disproportionately targeted by the IRS.

I think this has everything to do with the fact that the IRS has an open audit rather than some big secret hiding in the tax returns. This could easily have nothing to do with Trump having something to hide.
