I know the only MVP not drafted pretty easy to figure out

haha yeah it is

I know jayharvill hasn't selected, but I'm going to go ahead.  If he wants this player, then I'll repick later.
Since it appears a 2nd 7 footer is going to be needed against many teams in this League, I might as well take one who can post-up, hit the face-up 18 footer, shoot over 50%, pass like a SG, and block 1.5 - 2 shots a game.  Ideally he might pull a few more boards, but just ask a couple guys drafted long, long ago about his Defensive (and Offensive) game when a Title is on the line.
                                                                                                                               PAU GASOL

(criticize away, but I think this is a much better pick than some 6' 9" guy from the 60s or 70s, who'd get overpowered by many guys playing PF here)

I like it, should be pretty safe from jay with that pick. Gasol was on my list of guys for my bench somewhere. (got about 20 names)

awesome analysis, logain.  What about some focus on the all-defense & all-nba teams?  I'm curious!

btw - I don't know if I've ever told you, but Logain is my favorite sub-character in WoT.

The problem with the All-def teams is they don't go back that far 68-69. I wanted to include something for defense.. but its hard.

I think the whole Min prophecy thing about him has had me interested from very early on.
8/20/2011 2:27 AM
The scene where Rand sees him marched through Caemlyn in the very first book hooked me.  I expected something big from him from that moment on.
8/20/2011 2:47 AM
Well...I probably would want Pau Gasol because I need another down low scoring option since I went with Ben Wallace....but since this is just for fun, I'll let him keep him

My two picks are.....

Peja Stojakovic
(an unorthodox pick, but he was a cold-blooded assassin from 3 pt range in the bigtime years of his career)

and

Chris Webber(again, kind of unorthodox, but in his prime years, he was an inside force and a scoring machine)

Glad to see we've finally finished the round!

Thanks for posting all the cold, hard facts, logain.

By the way, garyman has confirmed that he is dropping out of this league.  dh is willing to take over that team, which is great news, so we won't miss a beat.

There are several options for what we could do. If we want to keep debate going we could do a tournament in the forums that would probably last a month or so playing 1 game a day and taking votes with reasoning. Or we could use the bracketmaker thing I posted to have people fill out brackets and then we could award points based on people's predicitons and crown an overall winner that way. That would be much quicker which is both good and bad.

What do others think?

My thought about a tournament was just a simple, single-elimination bracket.  Maybe one round every two days.  On the off day, competing GMs would have an opportunity to post a game plan and make their case for why their team can win.  On game day, everyone would vote on each game.  I'd encourage everyone to post rationales along with votes, to keep the debate going.  The team with the most votes advances to the next round.  Just a thought.  It shouldn't have to take anywhere near a month.
