The pendulum has swung back to the right. If the Republicans do a good job, they will fare ok in the 2018 mid terms. If not, the Dems may perhaps regain Congressional control. This is the first time since 1928 that Republicans hold the White House, Senate and House of Representatives. The ball is in their court.

I'm not apologizing for Trump. He is certainly flawed. Many things he has said and done are grotesque. I am hopefully optimistic that he does a good job. If not, he will certainly be hearing about it. One of them was going to win. Either was going to go into office very much unliked by many Americans...
