so like 6 pages ago i was looking to maybe get a knight team but couldn't see knight world and that's where seble wasn't too happy with my request to 'borrow' someone's account for a day to look.

what i didn't know is - when the hell did they put a 'world overview' feature in? has this always been there? does anyone else know this thing exists? first i've seen it, but i could totally believe its been there for ever or something. i kinda figure someone would have brought it up if everyone else knew about it though, so i figured i'd share it here -

if you go to the main jobs page https://www.whatifsports.com/hd/Signup/Default.aspx
then instead of clicking on the 'reserve a team' or whatever it says when its signup time button, you actually click on the name of the world, like Knight or whatever, it takes you to this whole 'World Overview' section.

you can go to any conference in any division, look at any team, etc. - for years, i've seen posts like 'i can't see world X can someone check Y for me?' and never once can i recall this coming up. its actually super cool. you can't go see the draft board or projection, or rpi listing or ranking pages (at least, i don't think you can), but you can do a heck of a lot more than i thought (which was to randomly click coach names until you find someone in the world you want and then hope they are in the division you want and then go from schedule to schedule trying to find someone who plays someone in the conference you are looking for... so you can finally find the team you are looking for).

pretty cool IMO.
Also new to me!

But one of the benefits to having family members who also play is being able to scout a world prior to entering if, say, your dad already has a team in that world.

see, that's what i always thought too! but it looks like you can see just about everything you'd really want to see, just from that world overview page.

i don't know how it hasn't been brought up in like, 500 different threads over the past decade, the issue of seeing a world when you aren't in it has come up so many times, probably even more than the infinity of player name threads. kinda in shock this exists!

but a few people have been like 'yup we knew about it the whole time' and its like COME ON GUYS share the wealth! the rest of us are clicking random coach names trying to find someone in the right division of the right world for 10 minutes and then hoping they played the team or a conference mate of the team in question for another 10 minutes. i guess y'all just like watching us suffer. i feel like this whole time, i've been one of those old guys who hunts and pecks on the keyboard at a rate of 5 characters per hour.

I don't know how many of you play online video games, but if you do, and if you have PS4, feel free to add me. I play GTA 5, Red Dead 2, and various sports games. My PSN: Baxter_Mac.

I hope you get it back, but if not, come join the Big 12. We need another human in the south to keep the Longhorns in check.

Does that mean you lose your long-time coach preference? If so, ouch!

Also, do you get new recruiting funds as a "new" coach?

Great question about the new funds.

My understanding is that if someone else applied for the job and you got it back you WOULD get the recruiting funds for the 'new job'. At least that's how it used to work. I remember awhile back th0nlyis sending in a ticket to Seble about how he got the extra cash and it's a bug that needed to be fixed. Seble either didn't understand what was happening or he believed that it should actually work that way. Which is obviously very stupid.

I still have my long time coach pref, and I did get extra $$ as well. Not sure if I will get the new coach penalty on the recruits I have already been recruiting or not.

Thanks for sharing. I THINK you don't get the penalty. Which if you don't, means the whole thing is totally bugged and Seble didn't think it was necessary to fix. It probably doesn't happen THAT much but I think it happens enough that it's a pretty major loophole (but a risky one because you could lose your job).

But regardless, I saw that UNC job open in Phelan when you posted about it. Glad you got it back, that would have sucked!

Agreed. I know a small number of coaches routinely take advantage of this loophole, but seble has never cared much about cheating. Love WIS or leave it.

I'm not saying Indians had this intent. I'm happy he got his team back and I'm grateful he reported the loophole is still open.

I hope not! I am gonna submit a ticket about it. I didn’t get that much extra based off of what I already had left plus EEs/Walkons, but its not insignificant either.

But I don’t want to use the extra, as it’s obviously not fair.

So yea this is basically spot on. I submitted the ticket, they said its not an issue, its by design and the situation I was in is just a rare case.
