No, they are vastly overachieving.  And, after the last two MG seasons, where I had 51 and 48 wins at the A/S break only to finish with 77 each season, I believe teams can suddenly stink in the 2nd half.

Is there any correlation between a position change for a player and offensive production?
I moved Lee Benjamin from SS to 3B this season and his production has been just putrid.  I guess a similar question could also be asked about players being signed to long-term contracts, since this is the first season of his 5 year deal... anything to that?

No, nothing to it in either case but it's something we always notice.   We tend to overlook overperformers and catch those not doing the job.   And when a "major" move was made with the underperforming guy, it jumps out at us.

I think it's unrealistic to expect Jeter to hit .310 with 18 homers.   If he can hit .283(current) and raise OBP to .350, I think most Yankee fans will be happy if he sprinkles in a few clutch AB.
