Every time I see Molina come up to bat with a runner on second or third, I think, "Alright, someone who can actually come up with a clutch hit." Then again - here lately, how often do the Cardinals have someone on second or third? Usually, there's noone on or someone on first. Then when Yadi comes up, the first and foremost thought is, "****, here we go - another double play." He never disappoints.
I know you can't have the best of both worlds, but double plays are rally, momentum and attitude killers of the worst kind. I really like Molina - he's one of my favorite Cardinals...but he needs to be batting EIGHTH (or NINTH, if the Pitcher is batting eighth).
There just isn't any spark to this team at all. Where's Steve Kline or Rex Hudler when you need them? Someone needs to start kicking *** in that clubhouse...
