In any case.. Jokinen and Phaneuf could turn in some wicked performances with their new clubs... Jokinen paired with Gabby could pay dividends for Olli.. but the bottom line, both players were NOT performing in Calgary and had huge contracts.. they had to go and we got a sore weak spot addressed... of course these players still have to perform for us

do we now put together a package of a couple newly acquired players for Kovalchuk?..

Higgins-Stajan-Iginla
Bourque-Langkow-Kotalik
Hagman-Conroy-Dawes
Glencross-Boyd-Mayers

We also have McGrattan, Moss and Nystrom... Moss, Conroy and Dawes are all hurt though... Lundmark and Backlund are back to the minors... tho0ugh hard after Boyd, Iggy and Backlund's night last night... it was only one night.. well two since they apparently played well against Phoenix

Funny thing to note... at least we did something... these trades cant make this team any worse right now... a 9 game losing streak with an insignificant against the Oil.. the worst thing would have been to do nothing or even worse.. gut the team for the future.. at least the Sutters are not giving in... I like that..

Apparently kotalik has a limited no trade clause of 3 teams he can't go to and Calgary is one of them.

The Jokinen deal, if it goes through, would help the Flames much more than the Phaneuf one I think. Living in Montreal I can tell you that if Sutter can get Higgins to play up to his potential, you guys will love him over there. Gritty little player with a nice scoring touch, good leadership and lots of heart.

POTENTIAL??........IF the FLAMES played-up to potential, they would win the cup every year??
