I thought it was quite ironic that he used the word 'fun'....

Every time I want to take a position player, I talk myself into the fact that there are a bunch of guys I could take at that position which leads me back to pitcher. As I start to narrow down which teammates I still need to select from, certain guys really don't have many good choices (after the first few get picked)...

That leads me to my next pick... Kevin Saucier (Jack Morris)

Without the knowledge of what the heck would happen in this draft, I figured that I wanted to make anyone who wanted to pick first in a given round really earn it. In hindsight it wasn't a great reason but it made sense at the time.

I understand and had the same strategy, except on the other end of the draft. I wanted to give a reason to pick last in the next round. I would have picked a DeGrom type (but with maybe a little more mid-level talent) if I was in the top few and I have no issue with that pick

I like it!! If we wanted a forced rich talent pool there should of been a constraint that nominations must have X seasons (like 10 or more) involving Y franchises. We’re actually lucky there weren’t a bunch of these types of nominations.

Agreed -- no issues with the pick. This draft format allows for a lot of different types of drafts, depending on who gets nominated.

In another draft where the opposite happened, it would have been interesting to see how much of a mad dash there was for the top spots in the early rounds. Not a better or worse scenario, just a different draft experience.
