so, seven teams are over the cap, including two that missed the playoffs. Three more will go over the cap when they get their draft pick.

For that matter, here's all the open financial info on all the teams. Maybe i we know where everyone is at, we can debate more informed, and by knowing who has cap space, it may facilitate making deals.

The home team Raleigh Wolfpack will compete against Salisbury Striper Swipers on June 29, 7:00 PM at the Wolves Den.

Salisbury Striper Swipers is more skilled than Raleigh Wolfpack which should make an interesting game. Raleigh Wolfpack is ranked first in the league. But don't count out Salisbury Striper Swipers. Teams often like to "test themselves" against the top team which means they'll be playing at their full potential. Raleigh Wolfpack will have a much harder time winning because of this. Salisbury Striper Swipers has highly experienced players.

so i wonder if it's true that the #1 team will have a much harder time winning.  this would explain why no #1 seed ever won it all

just for ***** and giggles, I decided to be Damned, and see what I could scratch together off the current free agent list.

I found a coach, back-up goalie, five defensemen and 13 forwards I could live with, knowing what I know now starting a new team. I like to carry 2-3 Gs, 8 D and 14 Fs.

I'd still need a starting goalie, three more D and at least one more forward.

Trying to keep some powder dry for when the undrafted prospects hit the free agent list and when the big ticket free agents are available, I spent $24.2M

Coach- Littman (79)
Goalie- Vassil (57)
Left D- Lorenzini (71)
Right D- Outhouse (69, Sniper), Lutze (67), Rotundo (68), Titov (54, PP)
Centers- Reinhart (75), Rodis (70), Pullano (69), Gemmen (66)
Left Wings- Savin (71), Febres (65), Mince (64)
Right Wings - Hitch (78), Prosch (70), Neyer (66), Harpham (62), Przewozman (59), Yakovlev (57, Sniper)

So $10.8M left to get a stating goalie ($3M easily), three defensemen ($1.75-$2M apiece), and some scoring pop.

et tu, bobby.

On a side note, I'm proud of my payroll efficiency. Managed to stay under the cap and still get the 2 seed.

And damnit, I didn't realize the raise Nikandr Lebedev was in for. That might hurt, because I kind of wanted to bolster my offense just slightly through free agency.

sign your free agents first.  you can go over the cap with resignings
6/29/2010 8:58 PM
I can go over, but can I sign free agents once that period begins, if I'm already over?
6/29/2010 9:00 PM
no once you go over you can no longer sign free agents
6/29/2010 9:01 PM
but if you are looking to clear some cap space we can talk trades
6/29/2010 9:01 PM
no... what you do is sign the free agents first, then go over re-signing your own guys.
6/29/2010 9:01 PM
That's what I thought. So that's the decision I'm trying to make: keep my team pretty much as is, or dump a couple of players to get someone new and add a couple injury 4th liners later.

I may actually look at trades next season for the first time since we started this.
