Finally got a win. So we're 1-2. Yes, I know that it's actually 1-1-1, but as far as I'm concerned, a loss is a loss is a loss. In my opinion, here are the NHL's 3 dumbest rule changes (that I know of)
1. Shootout to end tie games if it's still tied after 1 OT. C'mon. Either end the game in a ******* tie, or treat it like the playoffs and play until you have a winner. Don't tell me "it's because of injuries." Players can easily get injured in the first 80 minutes, so what's playing longer going to hurt?
2. Points for OT losses. What's the point of this? "Congratulations for getting the game to OT, here's a point in the standings for losing anyway"? This goes back to my original point "A loss is a loss is a loss." Don't treat OT losses any different than regular season losses.
3. The NHL's playoff formats from 1928-29 to 1941-42. Though deciding series by total goals (before and partially during that period) didn't make any sense either and I'm surprised that always worked out. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, look it up on Hockey Reference. I probably would've put this higher up on the list but at least the NHL fixed it. Hopefully they'll do the same with the first 2.
Yes, I realize the IIHF has the first 2 rules. However, last I checked, the NHL wasn't governed by the IIHF yet.
End of my long ramble, which because we all have ADD, nobody else will bother to read.
