14. pharrop - Larry Bird, Marcus Camby, Robert Parish, Jrue Holiday, Andrew Bynum - This might not be the first, but it's the first blatantly obvious time an owner has drafted a rotation guy above a starter. That's not to say it's a bad strategy - not commenting on that at all! - just the observation that unless pharrop is going to do some weird oop ****, he has a jump on one of the stronger front-line possibilities in this draft. It's an interesting strategy & risk, though I'm not sure how much risk is actually at play here. So let's talk about Bynum. He's all over the place with minutes, but he's generally a tier 3 or 4 usage center with generally excellent efg%, average defense, solid boards, and solid tov%. I like what you could be doing with him, Parish, and Camby. I thought Bynum was probably one of the better first-front court back up options, and you scooped him up before any of the boys at the beginning of the draft could hop on it. For that, I thank you.
15. robusk - Artis Gilmore, Kawhi Leonard, Al Horford, Eric Bledsoe, Gerald Wallace - Yuck. And I mean that with the utmost respect, because I am not saying yuck at the pick; I'm saying yuck in regards to scoring at the wing against you. Defense? check. Solid usg+efg? check. Solid dreb? Check. Solid tov? Check. Some might think you're hurting a bit on offensive boards, but I also am not the believer in them that I used to be. This is a team I don't want to play 8 times a season.
16. amerk1180 - Tim Duncan, Dikembe Mutombo, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo, George Gervin - ah, the Iceman. They called him that because he was such ... a ... defensive ... ... stopper ... ... ...
Sorry, can't help but make fun of WIS a little when it comes to some people's defensive ratings.
He gives a nice usg+efg+def combo, but defensive boards are pretty sub-par for a SF. Fortunately, you have a bunch of those with Duncan, Mutombo, and Rondo already in tow.
17. mptrey - Magic Johnson, Kevin McHale, Manu Ginobili, Joakim Noah, Andrew Bogut - Bogut is an interesting guy. He has a couple of nicer seasons where he's in the tier3/4 usage range, and then he has some really nice partial seasons where he's a tier 5/tier6 guy. All of them are pretty stout when it comes to rebounding. The higher usage ones are decent tov%, while the lower usage ones are really bad tov%. He was a dude I was heavily considering and would have been overjoyed to have in my front court rotation.
18. 20ks - Kevin Garnett, Karl Anthony Towns, Draymond Green, Anfernee Hardaway, Reggie Miller - I already stated my love for Reggie, as he gives you great usg+efg with a decent ast%, low tov% and high fouled%. Doesn't do **** for you on the boards, and is not good defensively, but he's one of the top 5 high usage bombers in this format, I think, and at least as good if not superior to Ray Allen in this format who went way earlier. You've got threes for days with this squad, something a lot of teams are missing.
