thanks - I have an embarrassing amount of totally useless historical basketball knowledge
(you may enjoy the Auerbach ramblings),
but usually have a hard time remembering where I parked my car.

what you think about the 60' shot to send 1970 finals game into OT (provided link)?

I mean, it's one of the most famous shots in finals history for good reason

Good stuff cmcafeeky. To be clear, i knew the other nicknames, just not the Zeke one.

Adidas put Dames shoes on sale for $61 today. Unfortunately, all they have left is size 19 or bigger.

Can't wait to see the Suns in the playoffs. It's time. (Sorry, Dame, you killed for my fantasy team & I've always liked you)

Yeah. I was so STOKED to cop some, but unfortunately I have a pretty uncommon shoe size. I checked soon as the sale dropped but there was only one model in my size and it was one of the only bad ones.

Plus I think I have to wear pants with cinched ankles to pull off most of those shoes and I am not that guy.

thanks - yes good - (I'm a patient nerd, always assuming the best)
That's one of the great things about our collection of basketball nerds - knowledge.

As a basketball geek from birth, I'm appreciative of like minded basketball aficionados.
Like ashmael knowing about the 60' West shot -
in most basketball conversations if I mentioned that,
Or the Red Auerbach stuff...
I might as well be speaking Latin.....
(kind of like my jokes on here - lol) -

I would never intentionally besmirch ben, he is a legend and a great guy. His team is indeed stacked.

But let's not pretend he was playing four dimensional chess in this draft. Except for maybe Deron Williams (who I am not saying was the wrong pick), he took the most obvious person at every slot. The draft just played out perfectly for him and those of us hip to it were powerless to stop it.
I think the Bobby Jones pick was especially good. Based on where he went last draft, it was early, but Kinoa got arguably the biggest steal in the whole draft there. I wonder what things would have looked like had I gone Bobby J instead of Elton Brand last season.

The Danny Green thing is just exhausting to me. I know he doesn't have very many assists, but there are several guys who drafted big time assist point guards (Stockton, Kidd, Magic, Nash, cp3... those guys with consistent 30%+ ast% seasons) who should have taken a swing on him late round 3 / early round 4 IMO. I had him on my radar and would have taken him in round 4 if I had taken Draymond in round 3 like I almost did.

I just know that talent pool + ben's coaching = bad for the rest of us.
Resurrecting an old-ish post, but when I saw Jones was still available where he was, I had buyer's remorse on the Durant pick.

It has been so amazing living here for the bulk of his career, being a season ticket holder and watching him grow into this. He is a great dude too. A lifelong basketball fan and this is the closest I’ve ever felt to a player. So many amazing playoff games and the bubble has just been such a showcase of how awesome he is.
I was watching him v the Mavs last night and saw something I'm not sure I've seen/noticed. At about 30 feet from the basket Lillard went right off a screen. His defender, maybe Luka, went what you would think you should do for him and went over the screen forcing him towards the basket. Lillard steps into a 24 footer in rhythm and buries. He's become so deadly from 30 he's forcing defenders to go over screens at 30 feet from the basket which in turn allow him to step into shorter 3's. Nuts. I guess the off ball defender of the screener should drop, but then Lillard probably just leans into him as he's moving, chucks something up and then takes 3 free throws (which the nba needs to fix). Don't recall having seen someone so effective at 30 that you're probably better off going under screens so you're not giving him an easier 24 footer. I guess Steph would be, but I'm not sure he takes as many 30 foot 3's as Lillard is.
They got all messed up because they had the on ball defender going over and the big sinking at the beginning of the game and Dame was sliding into the space between to bury deep shots (because the screens were so high, they were still threes). Then they switched to where the big would just ignore the screener entirely and try and trap Dame. He just kept roasting Porzingis by driving straight to the hoop after that. Got to the free throw line a bunch. It was a masterclass.

Given that CJ played the last three games with a fractured vertebrae, the team needed every bit of it.

On his deep shots, if he floats forward a bit and lands a little in front of his takeoff spot, it almost always seems to go in.

bds9992: LeBron is playing PG and thus is a superior rebounder for his position

also bds9992: Deron Williams is not a fit on this team

more bds9992: I am taking Russell Westbrook and Maurice Cheeks in the 4th and 5th round.

I trust you have a plan brother. I just have no idea what it is.

in case anyone was wondering...

redbooda voted YES to ban lebron and NO to ban wilt and curry
8/12/2020 5:36 PM
i was worried lebron might dominate...less worried when i saw bds would get him(knew he would try something radical - cant help himself)...then worried again when he picked ewing....but bds came through and dropped a russell f'n westbrook pick in the 5th on us
8/12/2020 5:42 PM
hahahahahaha I'm not explaining myself, we'll just have to see how it goes
