When I play softball, I always smooth out the landing spot for my front foot in the batter's box.   I don't know if it's a superstitution, routine or just plain common sense.

Down by two runs going into your last at-bats.  Your leadoff hitter gets on base.  Is there any logical reason to sacrifice bunt in that situation?

I've broken hands with batted balls.  I don't know if anyone has ever saved their face.

If the batter is the worst batter ever and the only possible outcomes are strikeout or double play.

3rd.  MG/Coop are 1/1a.   I've only had half a season in Mantle and Musial is a buzzkill.

If you're not in the WS, it doesn't "count".    Even then, it's only one game difference.   As much as I don't want to hear players griping about playing baseball, it really is a long season.   A three day break where you don't have to do anything is probably nice.    Here's Papelbon and the rest of the Sux bullpen today.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLexgOxsZu0
