Which do you keep as the last 4 on the 40, journeymen fill-ins (24th-25th man bench fill-ins) or potential 15th-20th man on the roster (AKA average ML if all projects well) whose numbers would make them targets for the Rule 5 draft?

how much do you think coaching affects team performance? is it just chance that i can go on a long winning streak and then immediately go on a long losing streak?

I keep whoever I don't think will be picked.  I know that's not the answer you're seeking but each world is different.   However, for the most part, the 28 y/o who's a decent fill-in in an emergency will likely go untouched while the 22 y/o who still has pretty projections he won't reach will be snatched up like a hot dog at a fatty convention.

Coaching doesn't affect team performance.  It only affect development.
