Chara is a big baby and should be nominated for an oscar for his over acting. I've seen a lot worse hits than that and the player gets up and makes it to the bench. They don't roll around, crying for 5 minutes. This is hockey for christ's sake, not soccer.

Oh, wait, he is European ...

Here is an idea, put on a skate and let a friend, or better yet someone not too friendly, whack you with a stick to the back of the ankle. Perhaps you will discover that there is little to no protection at that particular place on the body. Then come back and see if you want to revise that comment.

You want to talk babies, talk about Cole and Ruutu.

His hands weren't tied up in Cullen's sweater, they were at his side. And if they were, what was he doing to Cullen to get his hands tied up in his sweater anyway? Any player knows, you do that kind of stuff in game like that, especially to one on that team that is not figther, andyou are going to get it from someone else.

No need to revise that statement. I do play hockey and I just recently broke my collarbone on a high hit into the boards. I got up and made it to the bench. No tears, no hysterics ...

They were tied up infront of Thomas, like any other time players come together in front of the net after a goalie has made a save. Walker came up and was third man in, in both my observation, and the on-ice officials, hence the penalties he received. Are you saying that the Bruins D should just let players waltz in front of Thomas unmolested and take whacks at him because they are not 'fighters'? They have been doing that for the last 4 games, and that has not worked out too well for them. It is high time they started defending their own crease, Thomas has been the target for hits from the Canes all series, with very few of the called. (The one on Ruutu in game one is the only one I remember being called, and that was after the Canes scored a goal).

And that proves what? I see you have failed to address the fact that Cole was down crying about the hit he took that occurred in the same shift, I believe. Nor have you addressed Paul Maurice's defence of the cheap shot on Ward. It appears your only concern is jumping on the "I hate Chara" bandwagon

Seriously, I've been hit in the back of the ankle with sticks and pucks before, I know what it feels like. The way Chara dropped and rolled around and the expression on his face was very comical. He should have his man card revoked for that display. After all, it's not like Chara is a saint here. He's pushed the envelope quite a bit in this series, with a lot of extra curriculars. After big hits, he'll hold the player down a bit longer than normal and get in a couple of extra whacks to the back of the head. He's even pushed it a little too far with Jokinen in this series. Last game in fact. There's a scramble in front of the net. The whistle blows, and Chara crosschecks Jokinen across the shoulder area to the ground. While down, Chara gives him another crosscheck. Ok, it's playoff hockey, everybody does it right? Well, for good measure, Chara then pops him 2 more times, all the while Jokinen is on his back and after the whistle.

As I said, Chara is no saint here, but he needs to take it if he's going to dish the same crap out. This over exaggeration crap is better on the soccer field.

As I've said, I'm not defending Walker's punch. What I am saying is don't take extra liberties and not expect them back in return. And when they do, don't cry like a baby. Don't give a punch to a player that is down on the ice and not expected to punched by someone else. Don't give out the extra hits, whacks, elbows, slashes, facewashes, etc. and then cry when it is returned.

I have seen that stuff from both sides. There have been plenty of high hits on the Canes part as well as extra-curricular activity. My point was not so much the hit on Chara, but more the cheap shot on Ward and Maurice's comments about it. If that had been, say, Sean Avery making that comment, there would have been a suspension for sure.

As far as Chara, I merely refuted your statement that after taking the hit, he was back next shift. That was not an accurate statement. I never defended him as a saint, he is playing hockey, the same as every other player on the ice. The Canes have been running Thomas all series, but interference has only been called once.

I don't think I, or anyone else is crying about extra hits. I am simply pointing out that Walker's punch was a cheap shot at a player already occupied with another player and unable to defend himself. A cheap shot. That, and the fact that Maurice's comments should get him a suspension.

Cullen was not fighting, so Ward's shot to Cullen is what? A cheap shot?
