Round 1 of the NT. As a 1-seed, I am entitled to a near-bye, and receive one by playing a team that is clearly inferior in terms of talent. I run them off the court, as is proper in this circumstance. Now the Tournament begins for real. I have to face my friend gopokes24 next; after that I might be facing a rival, djbrewer0808, if he's able to pull the upset over Georgia Southern as he did over Sacramento State. Following that, the chances are I'll have to face taz21, a friend and rival, who coaches Georgetown under his pseudonym, wrightflyer. That's pretty much a murderer's row of coaches in Crum, and that's just the potential path to the Final Four. So, regardless of my year so far, I have lost 4 games and I am capable of losing another one.
Anything can happen, but if I face the 1 seed that is on the same side of the bracket as me, in the Final Four, that will be Baylor, coached by tannermcc, another friendly rival. He and I came in to the CUSA in Smith at the same time, me at SMU and him at UTEP. I had better recruiting grounds, and was able to create a program faster and graduate up to a floundering Michigan State (which is now doing pretty well). He eventually made UTEP into a force, and has consistently shown that he can create powerful programs in relative backwaters (he has since moved from UTEP to Tennessee, and they are starting to do very well, too). He trains his teams on all three defenses, mostly using halfcourt press/man, but occasionally switching to halfcourt press/zone, and varying his defense greatly, depending on the opponent. The thing is, he's not incredibly successful in the postseason because he's usually doing more with less talent, but it's quite impressive, nonetheless.

Coach, I'm not going to lie, I was probably as guilty as anyone of looking at our path to the Final Four instead of focusing on our first round game. Glad to see that you didn't fall into the same trap. I can almost see it now 'Maryland NATIONAL CHAMPIONS'. Ooops, did it again.

The two ACC bubble teams, Duke and BC, lost in the first round. Everyone else won.
