PL arvid beats NL aljon1331 5-4 in 10 innings. PL take 4-3 lead in 9th only to have NL come back and tie it off ace RP Grant Jackson in the bottom half to send it into extras. In the Top of the 10th NL brings in Ken Clay who promptly gives up base knocks to 2 and 3 hitters Chris Chambliss and Fred Stanley. Clean-up hitter Willie Randolph slaps a 3rd consecutive single to score Chambliss as Lou Pinella's throw is up the 3rd base line. Randolph takes 2nd on the throw. Roy White steps up and hits a meek fly-ball that is snared by Roy White who then tosses a laser to Munson and nails Fred Stanley at the plate. Nettles follows that with a ground out to 1B. Jackson after giving up the game tier in the 9th shuts the PL down 1-2-3 in the 10th to secure the victory.
