I've never even heard of kringle.  Of course, I'm not a fatass midwesterner. 

Since today is close enough to over, I'd say "Business as usual."

That's complicated.  Men are cool with hitting it for ol' time's sake.   Women usually think that means you're getting back together.   Bad news in a work situation.
