And game 1 of my series v. Fish goes to my 1940 Reds. CG victory for Bucky Walters. 3-2 the final. '79 Pirates started Kison.
In game 2, the 1940 Reds bats came to life, giving us a 2-0 series lead...Final: 19-1, Turner makes it back-to-back CGs for the Reds with a 4 hitter. Reds P: Jim Turner, Pirates: Candelaria
Game 3 sees a big 7th inning rally by the Pirates to breathe life into the series...Pirates win after trailing 3-0 in the 7th, final: 5-3. Ps: Reds: Derringer, Pirates: Blyleven
Game 4 again goes to the road team, this time in 12 innings, 8-7 Pirates. My Reds again blew an early lead, this time 5-1 in the 7th not enough. Ugh. 2-2 going to game 5.
Game 5 finally goes to the home team....a 9 run bottom of the 8th erases a 4-1 Pirates lead and now the Reds will head to Pittsburgh trying to wrap it up in game 6. Final: 10-4.
Game 6 brings us to a game 7....Pirates get 3 in the 2nd and make it hold up, 3-2. Reds leave the bases loaded in the 8th...been a pretty good series outside of game 2.
Game 7 and the series belong to the 1940 Reds...7-2 winners in game 7. Reds used another strong effort by Walters, coupled with a big 4 run first inning to win the game and the series.
Good series Fish.
