Wild card clinched, 2 games out of #1 overall playoff seed against current #1 overall seed with 2 games to go -- both against said team.  Do I set staff for playoffs and rest MVP candidate, or try to get the tie (I would win tie-breaker)?

You really shouldn't have to do much to it.    IIRC, you'll need some pitching.  I think a handful of them were old, departing FA.  The offense/defense should be golden.

The bye is worth playing for.  Winning 3 short series is easier than winning 4 short series.

Do you consider arm accuracy, strength and range when you say "better glove" or is it only "glove"?

Just glove.  2B is going to have about 5 chances per game.   The LF will get around 2.   I'll give up a couple of points in range to get a better glove on those three plays.
