In what has to be considered a down year so far (9th in Conference RPI) we still have 4 teams that look solid for a postseason bid:
Guilford (RPI 3), Bridgewater (RPI 25), Washington & Lee (RPI 26), and E. Mennonite (RPI 54)
I'm still holding out hope that Lynchburg can get hot and join this group by the end of the year and I think Roanoke has a shot at it as well.

Special mention needs to go to the new coaches who have brought some teams back from the grave. Great job bmoore and gonzo!
billhulley has returned Bridgewater back to prominence and trousersnake has continued Roanoke's recent success.

Next year I fully expect the ODAC to get back into the top 5 conferences. I'm throwing down the gauntlet to my fellow coaches to schedule tough and get the RPIs back into double digits (whunt single digits for you, you've been slacking with these "26" RPIs and the like)
6/8/2007 11:27 PM
whunt should be aided by the lack of sims in his side of the conference next season.

barret...I'm trying...I'm down to a 13 RPI now...imagine what it'd be like if I wasnt a suck-*** 0-6 vs. top 25 teams.
6/12/2007 12:21 AM
I've been having a tough time getting the better teams to accept non conf challenges; I'm sure my impressive 267 rpi doesn't help.

BNYS....tell them you know me.....no seriously, look not necessarily for teams that are good this particular year, but try to envision teams that will be good next year (loaded w/ underclassmen) b/c they are less likely to be in rebuild mode...but also try to get teams where it looks like that coach will be around next year....
If I might suggest someone, try to get Johns Hopkins (jacore3) on your schedule. His team is young, has open spots on schedule & the teams already on his schedule are decent which should translate into a decent RPI/SOS for him (which in turn will help you as well)...incidentally, he is also playing W&L & Bridgeater next season.
I'll keep looking too if you'd like

In case you are not aware you can go to the team page and click on schedule. At the bottom of the page you can see who the team has scheduled for the upcoming season.
I do pay attention to both a team's current RPI and SOS, but pay closer attention to the returning players and the schedule for next season. This will help you to avoid scheduling a team that is scheduling too lightly. BNYS you might consider trying to schedule tougher opponents at home since road wins have a greater affect on RPI than home wins as an incentive for the better teams to play you. Lastly, I try to have my schedule basically set by the middle of the conference schedule.
jacore3 would be good coach to schedule. Have hunt put in a good word for you.

thanks for the input; it may be too late for this next year, but I will put it into play next season.
6/12/2007 8:54 PM
I also had a tough time getting teams to accept my challenges. I will keep jacore3 in mind for the year after next.

It might take a while to get some teams to accept challenges just because they already may have a number of friends they are already scheduling or look at your history and don't see consistently impressive RPIs.
It used to be that you could supplement your schedule with the best sims you could find and get road games with them, especially teams with lots of rising seniors and juniors. Now I'd check the best conferences (Heartland, ASC, Upstate, CUNYAC, OAC, just to name a few in no particular order). They will typically help boost your RPI. It does help to have road games (it also helps to win said road games) since it figures more into the RPI equation.
Good luck finding games.

Looks like 2 locks (Guilford, W&L) and 2 bubble teams (E. Mennonite, Bridgewater). I like 3 definitely to be in the NT and Bridgewater to be in with one tournament victory. Good luck in the tournament!
