Looks like Mr. Bush will be playing SS for the Pit Boss this season. I'm getting lowballed so, unless someone ups their offer, I'll happily play with my 1.85m player who should be making 6m.

Mike,
Just read this thread with interest. I'd like to hire you as a consultant for my team in Joey Belle where you've sewn up the division title (4th straight) 50 games in.
Lol, j/k. Looks like you have your work cut out for you here but since you know what your doing, I can't see it taking long before you compete.
Good luck,
Eric

What a suck-up!
You obviously don't know me and/or can't read. The guy is in my division and wins it running away every season. Now, I am not sure if the other 3 teams suck that bad or if Mike's team is that good. That's why I was joking about hiring him as a consultant.

How does that make a suck up jackass?

Too bad its a tard league, so even IF you win, it's not justified. Live up to your standards!!
4/13/2007 1:15 PM
I have said several times that it's a 'tard league. Anytime you have teams losing 120 games, you've got a 'tard on the loose. We have to replace too many owners every season(we're getting better but still).
I am currently in two 'tard leagues. Joey Belle and Happy Jack. I know this displeases the other owners but they know how to change my mind.
GET RID OF THE GODDAM OWNERS WHO CAN'T WIN 43 GAMES!!!!

That said, I'm likely to 'tard up Happy Jack. The team I took over is fuggin' horrible. And I'm breaking it down even further to try and get a couple of prospects.

I'd rather have your team any day than mine. At least you have options, I have $10+ million contracts for average players through season 10. I'm stuck.
4/13/2007 2:03 PM
I will admit that I only have one bad contract that extends beyond this season. I'm just completely lacking current or future talent.
4/13/2007 2:13 PM
I completed a deal for Mr. Bush. I got a future CF, SP and a stopgap SP(31 years old). I'm probably done dealing for now. We're in coach hiring now so it's time to find someone to whip these youngsters into shape.

Team additions:
Corino, FA C-Not ideal but 25 years old at 4y/16.3m. Pretty good hitter but only a PC of 44. Average D stats. When he's mature, he'll be full-time.
Vega, FA 2B-Solid D and good hitter. But he's 30 and was signed for 4y/22.8m. I won't like the last half of his contract but he's a good addition because I don't want a 30-132 record.
Robinson, FA SS-Should be a defensive wiz with a light stick. I overpaid for potential(90+ across the board) because he's gone backwards with glove/accuracy over the last three seasons. 5y/29.8m at 24 years old. Hopefully his ratings come back.
Keeler, FA SP-Solid middle of the rotation guy. 28 and signed for 5y/22.2m. Since my entire staff had to be rebuilt, this guy will get at least 180 innings.
Saez, FA SP-Another middle of the rotation guy. 26, signed for 5y/25m. He'll get about 180 innings too.
Benitez, FA SP-Low stamina(56) but probably the best of the three. 28 and signed a 4y/12.8m. I hope to get 150 innings from him. He's also a 3-4 guy.
Aguliera, WW RP-Picked up to be the closer. 33 years old but only making 327K. He'll be a nice fill in til something better comes along.
With the exception of Aguilera, they'll all be around when I can be competitive. I decided to concentrate on role players in FA while I build/develop the youngsters. We only have three players over 31 and only 9 over 28. I've managed to put some pieces in place and hope to acquire a few studs this season and next.

Uh. That's not nice, dude.

That said, you took over for one of my best trade partners. I'm guessing you have a lot of players on your team w/ SJ stats.

I believe you're thinking of the owner of mitch's team. Looks like he was your farm system. Kinda dimishes your "accomplishments" in the world when even you admit you got there by ripping off a n00b in trade.

I'm done with Coach Hiring. I only budgeted 9m and you'll see why as you read on.
I lacked talent at the minor league level so I decided on hiring two quality pitching and two quality hitting coaches at the minor league level. My pitching prospects were already in AAA/AA(or the bigs). It just so happened that of the 22 previous coaches, those were the only two worth bringing back. So I did.
This hitting coaches. I decided to hire a good one at AAA/AA and another at HiA/LoA. I figure screw Rookie League since all of those players would have to be promoted to fill out the rest of my level(45 minor leaguers were lost to retirement/FA). I signed good coaches at AAA/HiA.
So all my pitching prospects will be at AAA/AA and hitting prospects can be found at AAA/HiA. LoA/RL will be a wasteland of talentless hacks with no potential.
At the big league level, I got above average coaches everywhere but 1B/3B. There wasn't much to choose from and I feel fortunate to get what I did.

What about the amateur draft? If this team was horrible the previous season, you're going to have one of the first draft picks. What do you plan to do, assign your #1 pick directly to HighA?
4/16/2007 2:26 PM
Yep. I intend to only draft college players so they'll be 21-22 years old. As it stands, I have 2nd and 46th pick. FA is still in progress so I figure it will be 2nd/55th when all is said and done. That's only two players who will become factors. With the state of this team, plunking down big $$$ for rookie coaches just wouldn't be a wise business decision.

Allocation of Funds 101.
Put the money where it will do the most good. Coaching two players for 78 games is not a good way to go when your entire organization is in shambles.
