No one is suggesting you shouldn't try to hit the ball out of fear of the double play. But they are the downside to making a lot of contact. And they are bad enough to offset any gain you make from putting a lot of outs in play.The .82 DP every game does not make up for every good thing that happens when you put the ball in play.Seriously, that's the end of the story.
