I agree with the original point of discussion here... that some players still re-sign for much cheaper than they should, which then in turn can force people to run out and sign old, declining pitchers because there's nothing else on the market to sign.
Vic Clarke and Parker Wilson in my world are a couple of good type A's completely willing to sign long-term deals post-arb. I noticed that top pitchers around 30 years old are pretty rare coming to free agency though.
I'd prefer if 95% of Type A's were asking for whatever the highest amount was just signed from free agency the past 2 seasons. I'm pretty sure that'd help get more guys to market when you have someone signing for 18 mill per season. But it'd also give the owner the opportunity to keep the player around, just not at the steep discount they can currently get.
