there are not many transfers, so for the large majority of teams it is not going to be an issue. and, the margin of error in those rare cases is pretty small. also, you could star them in your ranking if you were really concerned about them being invalid data points as a result of their overall ratings. so i don't think it is a very good reason to give up on the OTR sos concept at all.

hmm, never mind about being able to star them, i suppose that impacts other teams. how are you going to do this without a complete schedule?

What World and Division are we doing? I want a whole worlds division not scattered teams. Its like rating the 2002 Gators against the 1994 Tarheels against the 1964 Texas Western against the 2009 UW-Whitewater (D3) against 2004 Queens U (D2)

When I told you this every time I said lets choose a world and a division so people can truly see what its like.

Let me know I am in both Knight and Phelan. If you choose either of those I can help out. By the way Phelan is going into the NT right now so they will be done sooner.

The only way I could do an entire world is to get compliance from WIS to send me the data....there's no way all of the humans are going to submit the necessary data here.

colonels, i still am not sure what you are going to do here. say 100 guys send you their data. how do you make a OTR based sos without having the OTR data for every team?

I need them to compile the OTRs of their opponents, that's all I'll need, its what metsmax did.

oh, i see. i forgot that was part of what everyone was giving you, i thought it was basically a copy paste of their schedule and their team. never mind :)

How is this proving your ranking system at all? You would need to do a whole world (at least one division) to prove anything.

if he does enough teams from 1 division, say 50, then he would still have a ranking for those 50 teams that we could look at and pass judgment on. his ranking is not recursive or self referencing it seems, so he doesn't need to rank the whole division to rank a subset.

That's simply not happening, there's no logical way for me to compile all of the necessary data myself.

Thats why you get 1 person or 2 from each conference. Even if we got just 10 people total thats just 2 conference per person for the 23 conferences at the D2 level.

Its still a lot to throw together in a few days...whatever happens, happens...if it doesn't work out then so be it. People aren't beating the door down to submit as is.

Here is knights 276 D2 Schools

Schools are Numbered from 13093 - 13368

http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/TeamProfile/Schedule.aspx?tid=#####

Just put the number in where the ##### is and hit enter

Probably could find a program to go in and pull all the info that is needed.

Knight still is not done yet, just entering the NT/PIT. I will search for a program to possibly pull all the info. Do you use excel to do all your calculations automatically?

If there is a talented programmer out there they could probably throw together something that would pull all this data in the matter of seconds.

Oh and I was looking and you can actually use web queries in excel to pull data from websites. I will look into it, I am actually interested cause I wouldn't mind trying my hand at rankings although it probably would suck, haha.
