I lost game 2 of the semis in double OT in my public league. Won the series in 3, but am going into the finals a tired underdog despite going 37-0-1 in the regular season.

What is your tourney league team name?
Mine is Dakota Walleyes, so you know, won't be difficult to recognize me when I enter your league and get the **** kicked out of me. Then you can be all like "Who the **** was that loser?" It was me!
As far as I can tell, they don't list owners anywhere.

If you have 0 chance of making the playoffs, you're better off just tanking
Tanking is for *******.

My guess is that some of the guys at top of the standings already have this worked out or a have at least a general understanding of it. I wish I did.

I got a late start on trying to figure out which players are most likely to improve. The questions that I don't have figured out are, are the youngest guys more likely to improve? the ones with the best attitude? the ones with playing time? the ones with the most potential ? a combination of all of these? Does experience figure in there?

My most improved player has played about 2 out of 3 games, has an average attitude and is 31 years old with Very High experience.

My least improved player has played about half of the games, has an attitude that is only a little below average, is 34 years old with Very High experience.

It all leaves me with no real conclusions.
I have guys that are 21, shouldn't they be the most improved?
I have guys with lots of potential, guys that have played every game, guys with all levels of experience and good and bad attitudes, but it still isn't clear to me which of these things influence a players improvement.

potential tells how many points the guy has to improve. when he gains 1 point he loses 1 potential
3/13/2010 10:14 PM
Sorry Bob. I'm certain that isn't true.

Players definitely lose potential as they improve, but it isn't one for one or even 1 point of potential for every 1 overall point gained.

Stickin' it to wiggy 6-0 just isn't much fun when she isn't around to take her reaming like a woman.

Your *** is grass Probie.

No one's gonna get 30 wins this year, keeping Speedy and I the only ones rocking the Zubaz member jackets.

Five of my last seven at home where we've lost once in regulation.

Seattle, get your *** moving, no fair sitting in the eighth spot waiting to ambush someone with Sitto in goal in a short series.

Can't believe Wylie shut me out.

we making a push for a playoff spot!!
so much for my playoff push.......

OK, my tourney league team is South Manchester Scots.

We went 37-0-1 in league 1313 (tier 5), swept the quarters 2-0, won the semis and finals each 2-1, and are going up to tier 4.

As a general rule, younger guys, with high potential and high attitude are going to be the big gainers. But there are no guarantees. It's not reliably consistent.

You do NOT trade potential for skill on a 1:1 basis. Coach with high training, high training and scouting facilities reduce the 'price' you pay in potential for gains in skill. I once had a guy go up five points in one short practice without giving up a point of potential. It was three defense and two of either shot power or shot accuracy. His name was listed three times on the training summary. Gained two defense, gained two shot power, then the other guys were listed that had gains that day, then gained ANOTHER one defense.

Playing time matters in that a guy has to dress to get game attribute up. You NEVER lose potential when you get points from game attribute up. It's ALWAYS offense, defense, shot power and/or shot accuracy.

So what I been doing is worry less about those four categories when scouting players, and getting into those hard to reach places (finding guys with speed, strength, passing, attitude and stamina), knowing those ONLY go up thru practice, and knowing the offense, defense and shot will come thru both practice and games.

8/13 forwards on my team have speed >70, 10/13 have passing >80; 8/9 defensemen have speed >70 and 8/9 have strength >80.

Thanks Brian.
