Oh Boy - Another FreeHD Topic

I asked seble for it. We will see if he gives it or not. I guarantee that if instituted what we all kind of agreed on here we could push that figure from ~5% to closer to 25%.

And your proof behind that 25% is what? Or you just pulling that number from where you normally talk?

To clear up the record on a few items:

- Retention rate (users who purchased at least one season after the free season) for last year's promotion on FoxSports.com (which is what this new promo is for) was 17%.

- Retention rate from FREEHD users was 32%.

- New users in their first season who used a promo code and did not yet purchase another season CANNOT use FSS.

That last point is key, because that's what prevents the widespread cheating that people were (ab)using FreeHD with before.

As long as that part is in place, I'm OK with it.

Ouch.....guess that proves zhawks is dead wrong....as usual

What about a 3 pack season for new Hd users that would be sold at a reduced rate? This would give enough time for them to learn and also get some of their own players to mature and they would like to see that improvement. The hook would be in place and HD would be full again.

To those of you who are so against the FreeHD are blindly worried of someone using the system to scout for other states, but as was said, you can't scout as a new user with no extra season.

FreeHD is perfect for this game, because without it, HD is eventually going to die. I'm willing to bet about half the people who are paying, would not have started without that free season. i am one of those.

All they have to do is implement controls to prevent abuse via FSS or other methods. That is their job. Do you guys honestly believe division III with all sim ai attracts more customers? Would most of you have kept playing if the first world you played was 90% sims?

Call me naive, but how many people you think actually did this? 5-10? Yes, its cheating but the advantage gained is minimal, Im sorry but it really is.

*****

In one of the last worlds to have Free HD, I counted 61 'new' DIII coaches who didn't sign a single recruit. Some of these teams had 9-10 openings and lots of money.

Emy - I guess it never crossed my mind to do it and Im suprised the number would be in the range given by Furry.

EDIT --- I BOLDED THE WRONG PART...Meant to bold the portion where you specifically mentioned cheating ie the scouting part, my comments were directed at that...As for the second part of my comment was simply making an unrelated point. Im going back and cleaning up the original post!

Unfortunately, there are a number of people who use every "advantage" they can get. I guess having worked in a prison for 14 years around inmates who tell lie after lie after lie and try to manipulate every chance they get has turned me very cynical towards people and life in general.

Because of my job, and this REALLY sucks, I have to assume that EVERYONE has a hidden agenda/ulterior motive and is running some kind of game. Did I mention how bad that sucks? Anyway, the good part is I get to retire when I'm 49 with full benefits, a pretty sweet pension, and a BOATLOAD of money in my 401k (maybe even enough to buy a house next to Diablo in the "Carribean" (inside joke, that is how he spelled it right?)) and not a whole lot of people right now can make that claim. :^)

Anyway, enough on that. My thinking was that as long as the Free HD ran, and as many people were picking up teams, that a lot of "experimenting" was going on with those teams. Had to be with as many teams ended up as ghostships. I might be wrong, but unfortunately I doubt it in this case.

P.S. Judging from the posts and the nature of what was/has been written by some of the users, I see alot of potential job security for me. Sad but true..........

That's 2 times in 1 month in which you've done something to make me believe that things are heading in the right direction. Even if potential, in it's current state of ThisIsSports, keeps me from expanding, I'll give credit where it's do.

If you aren't going to allow them to use FSS then you might as well scrap the whole thing. New coaches would be missing the biggest factor in the game today.
