Joes Not Pros Gloat and Groan Thread Topic

gary, I'm just hoping most folks are in the same boat. This is by far the ugliest collection of Joes I've had to draft around, and the only way I sniff the playoffs is if everyone else has been dealt a similar hand.

Also is there a rule how much your Joes have to play?

Not at all. Feel free to try to hide the lemons, if you can. The salary cap is the great equalizer at the end of the day.

Jason Williams was possibly my worst Joe last season, and this time around he's my crown jewel.

Consider the case of Steve (WHO?) Chubin:

4.0 TOs, 3.8 PFs (as a SG/PG), 41.5 FG% and 41.7 eFG%. Also, his per% is a whopping 1.

His one upside element is that he actually gets to the line a lot, but that doesn't offset the negatives. I'd never heard of this dude before...and now I know why.

I'm actually starting to feel like I hit the Joe lottery compared to everyone else. All of mine have at least some redeeming qualities. Richard Jefferson is pretty much a king among Joes; 49% FG, 52% efg, 16% dreb, 13% ast, shoots over 80% from the line and takes over 500 ft, and only 2.2 TO and 2.5 fouls in 39 minutes! Plus he can basically defend the 2/3/4, with a defense around 60. Thanks to whoever put him in the Joe pool.

As to the others: Bradley is a foul machine, but he also blocks a ton of shots, rebounds pretty well, has a def over 90, and doesn't play too many minutes (giving me more room to operate). And his offense isn't great, but with my other scorers I don't need it (plus he shoots 48% and barely turns it over). Danny Ferry is a terrible defender and terrible rebounder at the 4 (where I'll have to play him a lot, unfortunately) but he chips in 140 3s with an efg% over 53% and doesn't turn it over or foul too much. Larry Jones is a big-time scorer, and he's not horribly inefficient; 46.5% FG from a 60s player won't kill me, and I think he'll approach 50% in an uptempo offense. He won't get near his IRL 800 fta and 2200 points, but that's OK. Defense is also pretty crappy at 43, but not a death sentence. Little bit of rebounding, little bit of assists. The most turnovers and fouls of any of my Joes, but that's more a commentary on how decent my Joes are overall - how many of you would be happy if none of your Joes turned it over more than 2.9 times or committed more than 3.6 fouls in 40 minutes?

So overall, my Joes are a little short on rebounding, assists, defense, and 3s, but I think I can take care of that with my other choices. Thanks to pretty solid Joes, I'd be surprised if I don't have a very good team (and I'll only have myself to blame if not!)

Like Tarheel think I did pretty well:

Yao Ming 26% Usg with eFG of 54.9 and 8.7/22.8 reounding

David Thompson 26.8% Usg with EFG of 53.3 and 13% assit

Jim Jackson- not as good as I though he was, only avg 12.9 ppg thought he would be around 19 in his best season. But he is servicable eFG 51.4 Dreb% 14.7 and assit%of 10.5

Phil Jordan- My one real dog eFG of 39.5 with 20% Usg but only costs $3m, so can hide him

I will give you Frank Brian for Ricky Sobers right now A. At least Brian can hit 3s. I'd be willing to put up with Sobers TO's.

i gotta say...i think we really need to do a draft of the joes next year

its pretty clear that the teams that lucked out with the good joes are going to compete while the teams stuck with the bums have no chance....i spent alot of time trying to hide and build around my joes but its pretty much impossible to put together a team capable of winning the chip

the draft would bring more strategy and give everyone an equal chance of winning....with the current set up its all about luck and not skill
