The official record for attendance in the Carrier Dome for hoops is 34,616 this season against Villanova (becoming #1 all time for on campus attendance for college hoops. The previous attendance record to fall was also at The Dome, on March 6, 2006, when 33,633 came to see the last regular-season college game ever played by Syracuse guard Gerry McNamara, in a 92-82 loss to Villanova. Further still, that figure broke the previous record of 33,199 set in Syracuse's 60–57 win over Notre Dame at the Dome on February 5, 2005). Unofficially, however, there was a story in the Syracuse Post Standard that at least 100 counterfeit tickets were sold and used to gain entry to the arena...

The Dome also holds the record for NIT attendance, 26,752 for a second round game March 19, 2007 against San Diego State.

i'm convinced that your 1st Oneonta champ beating me in the championship was the greatest day in your lif
hmmmm...

I'm trying to recall who we beat for that first NC....what team was it that you coached?

oldave - you are correct, of course. I was oversimplifying a bit. But the Harvard/Princeton group has gotten very aggressive with the aid.

Maybe I'm just jealous that none of that aid found itself my way :)

I picked Wofford over Wisconsin in the first round for the same reason, Bo Ryan in the tourny.

If that's the case, then they are badly mistaken. I haven't seen those stories, but I haven't been reading too many articles lately and I certainly have no reason to doubt your word OD. All I was saying was that the announcer said CT champion. Not trying to start a big battle here, just thought I'd point that out.

As I said, if the media is reporting that this is the first MVC team to make the Sweet Sixteen since Larry and the Sycamores (where I went to school with his brother Eddie. Boy, what an oxygen thief he was), then they are obviously wrong.

When a school comes out of NOWHERE to bust almost half the brackets in the country (and Canada, too!)how can you not go all out behind them?

You had seriously never heard of UNI before? wo

They beat Mizzou in 1990 as a 14 seed (Anthony Peeler's team)

You have all heard of the school if you have heard of Kurt Warner.

They have been one of the better teams in the Valley the last few years. Probably the most underrated conference. They are better than the A10.

How can you pick a favorite with Cornell, NIU and St Mary's. All are great and you have to throw Baylor in as well. It wasn't that long people were suggesting they be removed from the Big 12 because they would not be able to compete anymore.

Just my opinion, but I think the A-10 is better, but just my biased opinion. Just look at what Xavier has consistently done and then throw in the NIT powers that make up 1/2 of the NIT final four right now. But the MVC has had its share of success.

Cornell is a IVY league school, kentucky will buy the $10 tickets Cornell will get the court side $100+ tickets.

LOL. hook me up with some of those $100 courtside tickets. when i checked courtside was at least 4 figures.

also, i imagine a fan driving 10 hours would be willing to pay more than $10 dollars for a ticket. considering it was $150 a ticket to nosebleeds in rupp for the UK/louisville game. quality lower level seats to the s16/elite8 games in the carrier dome are actually cheaper than the crappiest lower level seats i could find to the UK/UL game, that was pretty surprising to me.
