Here's a couple of interesting side-effects of the rule change...

Because more <.500 teams are being selected, the overall average winning percentage (.514) in this league is much lower than in past leagues. More than 1 or 2 teams should finish over their real life win%

Because there are more >.500 teams undrafted, there are theoretically more good players available.

And then pick up a closer and enough offense to be competitive. Both the Indians and Phillies gone before I had a chance to pick. These new rules sure created a different strategy.
I didn't like the Phillies as a viable choice. They already have Carlton and still sucked. Their second best SP, Woodie Fryman, is a multi-team player who belongs to the Tigers. I won't even start with their pathetic offense. Is 8 picks enough
Fair enough. My first pick by far was the Giants. Second choice was the Braves. But they were both gone and I didn't like any of the teams .

The offence isn't as bad as some teams - 1972 was a horrible year over all for offence.

The 8 picks doesn't matter as there is usually nothing past round 4. But the first overall pick and one starter is something to work with.

And I don't have to do too much to match the real life winning percentage

Hey wait a minute! Brewers are available, but Bob Gibson didn't start his career until 1983!

A legend of the game, that Bob Gibson . . .

That's what I get for making a pick on the way out the door. . .
