They are getting wore out and tired.

Miami is doing fine, just beat #8 Syracuse, crushed sucky Mercer, and they have 4 seniors, 2 juniors and 4 sophomores. 7 players with 80 or more stamina, 3 with 90+.

Its not like press is bad for everyone, its just what us non-press coaches have said for years. If you try to press a team when you are slower, less athletic and have less depth, you should get beat. That is happening now. Press continues to work for athletic, deep, talented teams.

My Clemson team is doing fine but I'm having to go 12 deep every night. I still have players going into the red that play under 20 minutes and have 80s stamina. Good thing I'm deep!

because i have principles, and out of those principles i refused to run what was clearly a mockery of actual basketball

YOU ARE RIGHT IKE!

I have to ask this- you all didn't see this coming? Once the new HD came out I knew the press was going to go down- historically ever 'super' O or D gets nerfed in due time.

One thign I woudl think you might do with a press team is stop running uptempo offenses. Go normal or even slowdown to make up for the fatigue and fouls?

The true mockery was not being fired after going 17 seasons at a BCS job without once making the NT.

I would have quit, myself, just out of principle.

So, as a new player, randomly picking a team that played press, what should I do? We've lost all six games we've played handedly (counting the exhibition replays,) and every game one of my three good seniors has run into foul trouble...
Should I start switching my D now? Stick it out a season? A few games?

There was another adjustment today...I'd wait a while

I hate to sound rude, but the defense that you are running is probably the least of your problems. You need to focus on better recruiting (perhaps you are only looking at the overall ratings). For example, a PF with 7 ATH and 12 SPD and a SR transfer SG with 16 ATH and 37 SPD are not going to help things (especially if you are playing the press).

Make sure that you look at the core ratings, not just the overall.

First response from CS:

It looks like you shot well in game 2 mainly because your opponent played a 2-3 zone at -3 positioning. That leads to a lot of good looks from 3pt range.

My response back to CS:

It's not really my team I'm concerned about (although we did shoot a high percentage from three ourselves). What I was looking at was the fact that my opponent in that game shot 10-20 against a +2 Man-to-Man with me playing what would have to be considered to be pretty good defenders for D2. I totally realize that it could have been an aberration, or just "one of those games", but the percentage still seems awfully high given the players in question and their ratings/IQ's.

Also, in Allen last night, a Sim controlled Pacific team shot 14-17 fro beyond the arc against human coached Mississippi State. I don't care what kind of defense he was playing, that is WAY too extreme of a result. You could put those guys in an empty gym and they'd be hard pressed to repeat that performance. In another thread, coach MNiven stated that he gave up 7-9 threes while running a 3-2 Zone set at +2. Not alot of shots, but this still seems like a rather high percentage given the defense in question.

I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong, I just want to make absolutely sure that this part of the engine is working correctly. I love the engine so far, the only problem I've seen is the possibility that something is causing three point attempts to be made at a much higher rate than they should. Could you please, PLEASE have Seble go back and gather the stats from all the games played so far and check to make sure this part of the engine is working right and that I'm not losing my mind (which IS a distinct possibility)!

Thank you again for your time and consideration in this matter.

I'm aware my first recruiting class wasn't perfect. The senior sg was just filler so I could have another schollie next season after I learned a few things.
I did however pick up one decent recruit (my SG).
Either way, my freshmen are not the main reason I've lost six games.

so my coaching situation at one school was a bigger issue than a sim engine defense that impacted all worlds for dozens of seasons? let me know when you encounter reality...

Pretty sure he was just being a smartass Dave.

So everyone thought the press would give them a better chance to win and changed to it. But you had to expect it was going to get fixed at some point, didn't you? Now zone may seem the better option and a bunch of coaches will shift to that. Every change gets these responses from some coaches.
