EXCLUSIVE 5 MAN ROTATION LEAGUE Topic

ok, what at the results of the 2nd round?
6/19/2010 6:27 PM
nikospade, as I am unable to open my envelope (have contacted support but not rec. aid nor response yet) I don't know if there's a new way of sending messages, if you did, or not, to communicate results of 2nd draft round of pitcher selections yet?  I'm right in assuming that you're sending us the results today? So we can draft our teams hopefully (unless another round is needed...).  Right?

nikospade, I understand it is Father's Day & this league should take 2nd place to your celebrating if you are a Dad.  Hopefully, we can we get on with our league process soon.  Most of us can't draft or finish drafting our teams until we know our 5 pitchers.  Thanks.

Sorry for taking so long.  I was waiting as long as possible for Sean102385 to pick his one pitcher.  I'm in DisneyWorld with my dad currently so you know how that goes but here is the updated list.  Interesting is that The Bulldog Jason Schimdt was picked a total of 4 times in the second round.  Please try to get your round 3 picks to me in the middle of the week lets say Wednesday.

So how do we tell how we made out?

front page.  got it.

hoopsrus,

let me see if I can help clarify.  I'll use my team as an example since I'm filled up now.

5. Giter_Dunn - Lefty Gomez, Juan Marichial, Steve Carlton, David Wells, Burt Hooten

Round 1:  I chose Gomez, Marichal, Carlton, Sutton and Garcia -> Gomez, Marichal and Carlton weren't picked by any else so they are mine exclusively

Round 2:  I chose Burt Hooten and David Wells ->  neither were picked so they are mine exclusively

If someone else had chosen David Wells in round 2, then I'd need to submit a name for round 3.

I see you have Hideo Nomo, Cole Hamels and C.C. Sabathia.  Not sure if you picked them in round 1 or 2, but you need to submit 2 names (except for any names on the list 4 posts previous).  To avoid picking duplicate starters, consider finding some top notch hitting you really like and back in a starter teammate you can work with.

Hope this helps some.

i am starting to see why i got maddux... if you use his best years, his teammates aren't very good. if you want good teammates he's no better than 50 other pitchers.
OK so it looks like I've got my 5 now... 4-for-4 on the 2nd round, woohoo!
6/21/2010 9:45 AM

Well that sucks...  I still have one pick to make and all my backup choices got blacklisted.  Back to the drawing board, again.

Wow, I'm going to name my squad Team Deadball. Only three picks and already I have over 1,100 innings. I can't believe someone else also chose Francisco Liriano in round two. Whoever that was, well done.
6/21/2010 12:13 PM
I don't even remember who i picked, did i get who ever it was?
6/21/2010 1:11 PM
Well it looks like we are more than half way done, we only have 11 teams needing pitchers...  It looks to me that the farther we go, the teams left picking, have a substantial ADVANTAGE!  They get their pick of proven, great pitchers still out there (ie. Walter Johnson, etc.) TRUE, they dont have much in the way of supporting teammates to draft, but if I were still picking, I might consider it to be worth it, to get a pitcher like Walter & four 200k players as backups?  Just my thoughts, I guess the SMART stratagy was to make obvoius selections & still be picking - to get the pick of whats left (which is quite a LOT of good talent) BUT I was worried about getting the guys who matched what I wanted reguarding their teammates?  Oh well, Im OUT of here, DONE with this forum, I got my 5 pitchers!  See you all in the league & Good Luck!

So your the one who messed up my team, teal?  Liriano was a really good choice.  2006 had a catcher, 1st base and 2 or 3 RP.  And now nobody has him.

happy, the master list on the first page lists what pitchers each team has and it has been updated.

gray, I don't think that is an advantage.  But then all my pitcher choices have been heavily weighted by who their teammates are.  I would be quite a talented drafter if all I had left with this last pick was the SP innings.

So what team salaries are people coming up with?  Especially the 13 that are done.  I only come up with about a 110M team.  Then I fill in the rest with excessive backups.  I've done this with various combinations from 9 different pitchers through the different draft rounds and it always comes up about the same.  Anybody really have a 120M team with no waist on the bench?

I have 3 players on my bench totaling about $2 mil I will probably never use.  I have about 300 extra innings but all of the pitchers are going to be used.  With my 5 starters I needed to have enough innings spread among enough pitchers in the bullpen.   I went for good years of my position players sacrificing the starters best years in 4 of the 5 cases.
