Me too, schwarze.  I should have taken the 2003 instead of 2002 Bonds, but I figured cholatse would take him before I got there.  There's something stupid about paying 14 million for a DH that can't play the complete season, but the 2003 version is 10 million and could play the OF.

Actually, the main reason I didn't take '03 Bonds (besides salary), is because he can't play the entire season.  (Only 553 PA/162).  So I would have had to use another $1M - $2M on another OF who could get 150-200 PA.  So, he would have essentially cost me $12 million.

That being said, I still spend $8.8 million on Helton.  I just couldn't resist Helton's .358 average.

I really hope we're not doing trades during the draft...that's ridiculous and completely defeats the purpose of the theme.  Datatrek needs to get his act together and clarify some of these rules

Trades are allowed during the season, which was in the original advertisement.  Draft picks cannot be traded as draft picks, since there is no voting process to keep everyone able to veto.  After the season begins, a trade can be proposed and challenged at that point.

Are you going to allow a leeway(say $5mil) for trades to be made -- with everyone just about tapped out as far as cap space, trades will be impossible unless the money is exact.

I don't think a "leeway"--as you call it--is needed.  First, it has never come up in the advertisement, nor in discussion.  Second, the possibility of trades was inserted into the rules because it allows those who made mistakes in drafting (either ending up with too few ABs/IP or having a significant amount of money leftover) to trade their way out of their mistake with an owner who made the opposite mistake.  If you drafted appropriately, then why would you want to trade?

Me too.  The number of players that I want to finish off my team is narrowing fast.  I basically have my last 9 picks lined up and heaven forbid someone takes one of the 9 before my pick! 

I'm set now.  Need one more decent reliever, but it's on to the scrubs now.  I'm looking good for cap space.

Funny how early I thought I'd struggle to keep under cap; now I'm finding I have to spend more to upgrade later selections cause many  teams' lineups look strong indeed!  And I'm hoping my teams will be able to compete now 'n then!
