The Pirates haven't broken .500 since 1992. I think they've only lost less than 90 four or five times since then. That's ridiculous. I don't care how slow the process is. That's just ridiculous.
most of those years you are right, i am am right there with you, they sucked and mismanaged every aspect of the process over and over again, but, it is looking different the last couple years. they just have to keep up with the good things they have been doing and spend when the time is right . going out and signing derek lowe and adam dunn doesn't even get them to .500, ( not that those players would even consider pittsburgh at this point)
As someone who plays in some REALLY deep fantasy baseball leagues where most of the top prospects are drafted and kept every season (40 man rosters, 18 team league), if I was a Pirates fan I'd be pretty excited about the future. There is a TON of talent in that system. I love McCutch, Alvarez and Tabata, and Garrett Jones is a pure masher at 1B. The NL Central isn't exactly a dominant division...with some decent SP acquisitions this coming season, they could win the division in 2011.
And I'm not kidding about that.
