i'm not too familiar with this never played in this league but i have an idea or so.  Let's say i had a player Reggie Jackson going by the J and i want to pinch hit for him does it have to be with a j player

If it is in the 5th inning or before, you would need to use a J player.  After the 5th, you can use a player using any other letter from your user name.
