Kent Sterling wrote, "There isn’t a single school looking for a coach who wouldn’t crawl from their campus to Hinkle Fieldhouse over broken glass for a chance to hire 34 year-old Brad Stephens."
Sterling goes on to say that Stephens won't leave. He's well-paid and Indy is his home town. He quit a well-paying job at Eli Lilly to take an unpaid position at Butler.
A more interesting possibility is: Will Butler stay in the Horizon League? I'd think the Atlantic-10 would love to have them. It'd give Xavier and Dayton another nearby rival and Indiana is a basketball hotbed. And what conference wouldn' love to have all that tourney cash that Butler's hauling in???
Considering Brad Stevens turned down Oregon last year, it's hard to imagine he is going anywhere any time soon. Butler is an awesome job if you appreciate the intangibles it has to offer, and he is making a lot of dough. He wouldn't have signed a 13-year extension to turn around and bail right away.
I sure hope Butler stays in the Horizon League. They have great rivalries with Milwaukee and Cleveland State and Wright State and Valpo. They already play Xavier every year anyway. I would prefer to see them stay and the Horizon League continue to improve, which I believe it will. I could see how, though, in terms of budget Butler would fit better in the A-10 than in the Horizon. They have to change the name of the A-10 though. It's gotten past the point of ridiculous with 14 teams and maybe more added.
