I know.  I'm thinking your squad is early favorite.

Has anyone noticed that Anfernee Hardway's 95-96 season's defence went up from 63 to 83?  With that he's now the entire package

nah Mr #1 is looking pretty damn good right now if he doesnt screw up round 3

Just so I'm clear-when I swap picks with robocoach, we swap BOTH picks right?  Looks like:
My 8th SG becomes a 19th SG.
His 6th PF becomes a 17th PF.

Otherwise we each have 2 picks in the given rounds and no picks in the other.  It really doesn't matter to me, btw, but that seems logical given the positional draft.

Yes that is what we are doing- You move up PF, I move up at SG. You move down at SG, I move down at PF.

that was my understanding as well, otherwise, i would have to veto the trade...because,  like badja said, that would detract from the purpose of the league

Shooting guard round has been unpredictable so far. Really surprised about the a.I. pick. Also thought d.walker might drop to my spot.

Some interesting pairings so far...

dspahlinger - Paul Pierce, Allen Iverson
felonius - Manu Ginobili, Darrell Walker
scudmissle - Ray Allen, Scottie Pippen
sappy -  Terry Porter, Tracy McGrady

McGrady and Porter has sim-friendly written all over it, especially if sappy is using my favorite season of each.  McGrady really gives you everything at the SG position - a poor man's Lebron.  His Efg% could be higher, but it's not awful, and Porter has a season with amazing efficiency (albeit lower minutes).  Add in the guarantee of a monster center in the fourth round and the best of the bench pickings in the sixth, and this team has definitely got me rethinking my initial assumption that owners picking late in the first round were at a disadvantage in this league.

I love Ginobili in this sim, although usually at higher caps.  I get the logic of the Walker pick, too, although the combination of these guys doesn't excite me.  Still, felonius always has a plan and is clearly thinking several moves ahead in this game.  (He knows the sim well.  He's almost...simian.)  I'm very curious to see how this squad evolves.

Allen is still a sim staple, and Pippen is becoming one now that he finally is 100% at SG.  I'm not feeling the pairing of them, but (like felonius) I'm sure scud has a master plan - either one that involves running a platoon of part-time PGs he picks up later, or one that spreads the playmaking and doesn't employ a traditional PG.  As it is, he has a start on 3s and assists.

Pierce was a great pick.  I think there were much better directions to go in than Iverson, with his high usage and low efficiency.  Still, one of the things I appreciate about this league is the chance to see  seldom-seen players take the court, so I'm glad AI is getting some love.  This team could be scrambling for assists by the sixth round, though.

this is great stuff, brad! keep it going...yeah, sappy gets a gorilla in the 4th round, and i'll take the giant orangutan. there are 4 big men that are top picks and do not fall into the greedy hands of the pf poachers. i think this version of the league lucked out with the random draft positions. 5th round is gonna be interestingm hence the pippen pick now.

I'm still not sure why there are people sceptical of my Darrell Walker pick, I think of Walker as a Fat Lever (picked 14th) type player:

Fat lever 86-87: creb 24 as% 23 stl 2.6
D walker 89-90: creb 25 as% 25  stl 2.0

only Walker costs 1.5m less and has alot less usage so his less than desirable efg doesnt hurt you quite so much as Fat's does

so for significantly less money you get just about the same or better positive stats and less of the bad stuff?

I'm not skeptical, I was just expecting people to grab different guys and let walker drop to the middle of the round.. where I was seriously considering him
4/22/2011 11:41 AM
In most any other kind of draft the selection of Walker would be ridiculously early, but this is a totally different kind of game...  I have a very specific guy I'd love to pair with Jordan whom I'm hoping to be able to pick even if far more conventionally valuable players are still on the board.

in most any other draft the guy I'm likely to get in the 4th round would go in the first 10-15 picks (or earlier) - that's what's cool about this draft

right now if this were the funk52 I'd say I'd have a 2nd rounder and a 5th rounder with a 4th rounder coming up in the 3rd and a high 1st rounder coming up in the 4th - in the 5th I may draft someone who wouldnt normally get drafted at all but then in the 6th I'll have a shot at 2 guys who may be 3rd round level talent

Felonius I would of been on board with your picks except both of these guys used to be 90+ defenders.  They are not anymore

At least Lever is still an 80 defender.

Lever commits same fouls\to's with much higher usage and gets to the free throw line 100 more time, with nearly 100 more steals. I think the values are about right for both of them. I thyink both are good value picks, and also allow some flexibility in front court picks that you can take a guy with average creb who is good in other ways.
