I am in 19 of the leagues and after going through each one, it looks like the bubble for the 12 floating teams is 43-39 at this point.  There are a bunch of teams sitting at that record that aren't in the playoffs and aren't the first teams out.  I found 6 teams that had 44 or more wins sitting in the same position.  So to me unless things change a lot, 88+ should get you in for sure.  87 is fairly safe and 86 puts you on the bubble.

Some of the above stats that amaze me:

1024 Runs in 120 Games - that's over 8 and a half runs a game...every game!  Way to go Brownies!

I know Greg Maddux is "the Man" but 25-2?  Geesh...

Bonds' real-life numbers when on the juice were amazing - but an OPS of nearly 1.5?

After 122 Games played, with 40 Games left to go, the teams that have a good shot at making the playoffs are the ones who currently have 67+ wins at this point.  It looks like League 7 will be the toughest league to earn a spot in the next round at the current rate.  If these numbers hold up, a team from League 7 will have to finish with at least 92 wins to advance to the second round.  Leagues 10 and 14 appear to be the easiest to advance at the current rate - a team in those leagues may only need 85+ wins to advance on.

Overall, when the regular season is completed, I'm predicting that any team that finishes with 88 or more wins should earn a spot.  Anything below 88 is going to be luck of the draw.

Of course, stranger things can happen and all of this could change...

Charlie Ferguson now 37-11! and Wolverines 88 wins thru 128 games with a 21 game lead!
12/6/2011 5:21 PM
Bev, as you know, that particular league is very top heavy.  Lots of divisions with large leads including my Orioles.  Not bad, I have only 2 teams in this tournament.  At least 1 of them will advance barring a huge collapse.  I can't believe how bad my Dodger's pitching is!!  Don Drysdale, both of them, really stinks.

Being at the top of a draft may not be that good as it is a snake draft. Might be better to be a little lower in order for round 2 leagues?
12/6/2011 9:39 PM
I don't know about that.  I jumped in really early with this tournament because I wanted this Orioles team badly.  If you know a team (or playa) is going to be good, it might be best to be at the top of the draft. :)
12/7/2011 2:07 PM
Getting the top pick or two of teams is good but then having to wait for the 25th pick may not be good. Time to start the homework I guess.
12/7/2011 4:45 PM
I'm starting the homework myself.  I have 12 teams in this tournament.  2 of them are basically eliminated, 5 of them would be advancing right now and the other 5 are right there for either their division, WC, or best record without being in the playoffs.  I'm not really sure where I want to be in the drafts, but there are some years where either the offense or pitching is so good that I would love to be at the top of the draft to get them.  I guess it depends on the league to know what your options are.

14 in a row to go to 93-40 with a 23 game lead. Will this be the jinx now?
12/8/2011 1:23 PM
No jinx yet- 15 in a row now.
12/8/2011 2:29 PM
Wolverines!
