OK dh. Let me answer the sabonis question. Never used him before... Didn't look at his pf%. Big oops!

Thanks mucho dh555. I was actually very tempted to take an excellent  3pter shooter with pretty poor defense in round 6. But after play testing, the version of the team with Robertson kept winning. I'm ending up with 400 3s total after filling in my bench. I agree that Dampier and Pryz area bit low on defense. I tried play testing the high salary version of Tarpley but his higher usage and 50% EFG along with too many fouls made Dampier the better fit. However Tarpley's 66 defense and over 42% CREB was very tempting. I really wanted Dalembert but I can tell that he will be a low 3rd round to high 4th round pick from now on. I almost took Deron Wiliams over Porter but his higher usage and turnovers, along with about 40 less 3pters in 400 more minutes turned me against him. Plus, it would have broken Malone's heart if I would have taken his boy Deron as soon as he was skipped.

Really looking forward to how the team stacks up against 98's, Ash's and Malone's.

Logain you could use a lower MPG version of Shap and then fill in the PF spot with a couple of a low usage board hoarders. Shaq and Sabas actually make for a great platoon at the center position.

Thanks Vance. I'll work something out.

Decently happy with my team but don't love my 6th round picks and I'm low on Ast%.  I'm pleasantly surprised on how  I was able to fill my PF/C rotation with an undrafted guy, I was worried the pickings would be too slim - Outlaw is going to play SF.  I believe this team can make the playoffs but those are famous last words, right???

LIKES
Usage.....for most part, clearly defined roles.   As long as Rondo doesn't think he is Price, I should be ok.
Front-line rebounding....between Moses, Unseld and Muresan, should hold my own in paint
Free throw shooting
Fairly decent assist numbers up and down the board
Overall defense----Unseld is weak link at 40, 5 of the 7 are at 60 or higher

DISLIKES
Back-court rebounding....with exception of Majerle, my 1s 2s and 3s are gonna get outrebounded badly
Again, Rondo scares me with this season...wish his usage was 5 points lower
Front line defense after Moses....62 for Muresan and 40 for Unseld...wish those numbers were higher

Thought I was fortunate to get Mark Price & Dan Majerle as late as I did....I didn't think both would make it to me

that's a nice looking team, evil! love pressey... 51%  paint. he'd be a first rounder if he shot 3's.

8) captainzen - Charles Barkley, Kevin McHale, Fat Lever, Bob Lanier, Joe Dumars, Roy Tarpley, Shawne Williams

I really do like the Barkley/McHale combo and can see why it's been getting used alot. Having two 60% scorers in your lineup is a tough thing to pass up. Plus McHale covers for Barkley on D. I think I'd rather go for a low usage boardlord at center who can hopefully play some D. Lanier was probably the most talented C still on the board though. so I can see why you picked him. Solid on the boards, good at the line, gives you dimes, and plays great D. But like McHale, he's mostly mid and not paint. Because of this I think you should have went for a perimeter threat at PG instead of another mid range shooter like Lever. Lever does sure up the rebounding in the backcourt and gives you great A/T though, so it's bot like that was a bad pick. Tarpley rounds out the frontcourt with great boards and solid scoring, but taking on all his fouls and TO's could be a problem. Not sure what Dumars you are going with so I can't really judge that pick. Barkley and McHale(just barely) are still the 2 highest usage players on the team but Lever/Tarpley/Lanier/Dumars(maybe) will still be stealing a lot of their shots. The team also looks to be kinda short on assists, I think the McHale/Barkley combo calls for a true PG that will feed them all day and space the floor more with some 3s(Nash maybe? imagine that efg% trio).  Even though it's not exactly how I would build around Barkley/McHale, there's still a lot of talent on this team and I wouldn't be shocked to see them in the playoffs and making some noise.

7) jarharvill - Moses Malone, Kevin Durant, Wes Unseld, Rajon Rondo, Gheorghe Muresan, Dan Majerle, Mark Price

Not sure why you wouldn't use Durant's best season. It's better in just about every aspect. Cost shouldn't be an issue in this league. I don't like playing him at SF either. He should be a SG. Rondo is a nice PG, who despite the lack of 3s, gives you such good D and ast% that he is totally worth a 4th rounder. But if you drafted a PG who shoots some 3s(Deron, Brandon, or Harper) you wouldn't feel bad about moving Durant(or even half his minutes so you can still draft Price) to SG and going after more boards at the SF spot. Like you said, now your 1/2/3s are gonna be outrebounded most games. I love the Moses/Unseld combo. Unseld has great value in the 3rd and he gets to defend the weaker frontcourt opponent every game with Moses taking the stronger one. I don't think thunder Dan was needed, I'd rather have boards then 3s. I agree with you about your team usage. Everyone fits together nicely and Durant and Moses should be monsters at the FT line. I don't think your D is as good as you think when compared to some of the other teams though. I don't see this team contending, but playoffs certainly isn't out of the question.

6) scudmissle - Michael Jordan, Anfernee Hardaway, Pau Gasol, Shane Battier, Troy Murphy, Clifford Ray, Brian Taylor

I wasn't a big fan of the trade scud, but that's probably because I value Donyell so highly in the sim. I think he would have fit perfectly with your awesome backcout. You were able to get some real nice frontcourt pieces out of it though. I think Pau's value is rising in the sim as people recognize his 9-10 season doesn't really kill you on the boards and is efficient as hell. He even adds a very solid 69 D. Murphy will kill you on D but only Love can match his boards/3s combo. D may be a problem in the frontcourt but overall I really the combo you have there. With Murphy on board and some backup G mins still to be filled I don't think you really had to have more 3s from the SF spot. I think oreb% was more important. Battier won't hurt you anywhere else, but he's not really helping much either. MJ and Penny should be the most lethal backcourt combo in the league and if the boards don't kill you I don't see why you wouldn't make the playoffs.

12/21/2011 4:32 PM
well, I didn't see someone drafting Rashad McCants.  That changed what I was wanting to do.  Back-up plan to my back-up's back-up's back-up initiated.  Too many minutes.  Oh well.
12/21/2011 5:38 PM
I agree with your eval dh...definitely a gamble using kd at the 3. Not having who i would call a true 2 or a 3/4 combo made that necessary once i decided i was going with a rondo/price/majerle backcourt. If the big boys can hold their own, hopefully the rebounding deficiency can be offset by pretty decent ast/to ratio and the ability to get to the line and make fts.

5) mikee1 - Dwight Howard, Marcus Camby, Ray Allen, Donyell Marshall, Jose Calderon, Zach Randolph, Jameer Nelson

Tough to beat the inside outside combo of Dwight and Ray. Throw in a super efficient, low usgae, rebounding/defensive stud like Camby next to Howard and a SF who can defend/rebound/shoot 3s next to Allen and you have an instant playoff team. All that's left is the PG spot and a solid bench. Because of the trade you weren't left with too many options at PG so I liked the Calderon/Nelson combo. You got an incredible A/T guy and someone who guy fill it up off the bench while still giving nice ast%. Randolph confuses me a bit. Either you're using one of his crappier seasons, playing him out of position some, or using a lower min Camby. The latter isn't a terrible move but I think you could have got the boards from someone else who wont take as many shots away from Howard and Ray. Regardless, I like the offensive balance, your solid on the glass, solid on passing, PG is the only hole on D, and you have a legit 1/2 punch that can get you far in the playoffs. This is definitely one of the favorites.

4)  xxevilivexx - Dennis Rodman, Shawn Kemp, Bill Walton, Joakim Noah, Paul Pressey, Terrell Brandon, Tim Hardaway

I can see what you were going for here....dominate teams with your rebounds and defense. You should be great at both of those. But I think you went a little overboard with the Noah pick. He's good at what he does but you had other areas of need at the time. That left you picking your backcourt late. I loved the Brandon pick(thought he should have went earlier) and although I'm not a fan of Pressey(too many FLs and TOs), I can see why people like him. Hardaway is going to get a lot of shots in this offense. But he's also your lowest efg% player, never a good thing. When you draft Rodman, you get  the flexibility to do a lot of different things. For your team it was using the Brandon/Hardaway combo. That's just not good enough imo. I think you focused a lil too much on rebounding/defense and lost track of who was actually going to be scoring the ball. If Hardaway blows up and has a big year I could see this team being dangerous, but I just don't trust him like that.

3) ncih - Wilt Chamberlain, Mel Daniels, Mookie Blaylock, Cedric Maxwell, Derek Harper, Rashad McCants, Armon Gilliam

Usually I like Wilt to be paired with a high usage scorer but I kinda like how you went with a balanced scoring look. The thing that bothers me is that Mookie is the high usage guy. That could lead to way too many bricked 3s. Of course, it's not like you don't have the oreb% to clean that up. Daniels was a great pick and allowed you to go with a weaker rebounding backcourt tandem. Maxwell should really get the chance to max out his high FTAs on this team(but also turn it over a lot). Adding Harper(great value in the 5th) really puts this team over the top in ast%. I don't know much about the bench but McCants should add some 3s, which is needed to balance out the awesome paint scoring. Defense is very good in the backcourt and at C but pretty average at the forward spots. You have to do a real sh*tty job of drafting to miss the playoffs with Wilt, and even with Mookie jacking too many shots, I think ncih did more then enough to have this team ready to contend.

2) bluenote75 - LeBron James, Tyson Chandler, Buck Williams, Joe Johnson, Charlie Edge, Sam Cassell, Bo Outlaw

I really like your SF combo of Bo/Edge. Great D, solid on the boards, some paint scoring, and some passing. Tyson and Buck are also a real nice combo for LeBron. You don't need a great paint scorer with LeBron but you do need to have some and Buck fits perfectly. You seem thrilled about the backup mins in the frontcourt and if it's as good as you think(i bet we are using the same guy) you have a great frontcourt for the Kng. With that frontcourt and LeBron I would think you'd want a #2 scoring option(i view Buck as a good 3rd) who can pass(i dont like when lebron is the only legot ast% man) and shoot the 3. I think you had some decent options out there as well(Brandon,Harper,Deron,KJ come to mind). Instead you went with Joe Johnson, who I think is strictly a 47 mil player. The 47% from 3 is nice but he only shoots 3s 31% of the time(still a good amount but not when your drafting a guy specifically for 3s). He also doesn't get to the line at all and doesn't give you many assists or rebounds. And of course he's really bad at defense. I like a lot of things about this team but I think the Joe Johnson pick will end up hurting you.

1) jethroeg - Magic, Spencer Haywood, John Havlicek, Patrick Ewing, David Thompson, Dave Cowens, Reggie Theus

For the record, I think  Ewing, Haywood, and Thompson are all solid players who deserve to be drafted in this league. On the same team though? No way. Somehow Magic is the lowest usage player. Bye-bye great FT shooting. There's so many other things wrong with this team and I don't really feel like listing them. All you need to know is that I'm picking this team to finish last and that's my most confident prediction.

right you are...but its very close(26.6 to 27.1) and he plays like 600 more mins

hardaway is gonna be one of those classic "i talked sh*t on him during the evals so now hes gonna give me 30/10 every time i play him" type of guys i hate
