DOOMSDAY: Round Two - League 04 - FINISHED! Topic

I'm not smart enough to know how to edit a quote so I just went ahead and deleted the whole thing.
Thanks. As far as I know, it hasn't been possible to edit a quote since the new forums were introduced.

Now, can you explain the "24-hour rule"?  In this thread it says it is in effect here, as it was in Round 1.  In one of the Round 1 drafts, I found this:

"There is no reason for any of these short drafts to be held up by anyone for any reason (barring emergencies) so I’m instituting a 24-hour rule. Once the draft begins, any owner who takes longer than 24 hours to make a pick can be skipped.  Since we’re doing these drafts in “thejuice6’s Theme League Draft Forum”, sending someone a proxy should be a piece of cake. Again, if you can’t make your pick on time, send someone a proxy."

The second sentence seems unequivocal, but I guess the "barring emergencies" part in the first sentence implies that when someone takes longer than 24 hours we have to wait until you've checked in to make sure there isn't an emergency?

Well, when I typed that, I was going on the presumption that an emergency in this case would be something along the lines of...

"Juice, my wife's water just broke and I'm getting ready to take her to the hospital now.  I'm up next but I don't have time to make my pick.  Be back on as soon as I can."

You know, something along those lines.  Of course, in the case of an emergency, we won't always have an "advance notice" so after 24 hours of not hearing anything, I just can't assume there was an emergency and, therefore, the draft can move on to the next owner.

It's a sticky wicket for sure but I know of no other way of doing it.

Juice, just a little housework. My 2nd pick was listed as 1961 pitching should be 1961 hitting

K. I'll sit tight. Just let me know when I can pick.

Z - sorry about that.  Got it fixed now.

SG - I know CHISOCK usually isn't off-site for long.  I sent him a sitemail at 3:14 this morning and he hasn't opened it yet.  I'm assuming he'll be on here sometime today but, if he's not back on here by midnight, go ahead and make your pick to keep the draft moving.

Juice, if I am the next one to pick AL hitting, am I ok to make my pick now? I don't want to confuse anybody for tracking purposes so I wanted to check with you

I am next in line for NL Hitting -   I will take 1906 NL Hitting (Cubs/Pirates/Giants)

BYE - Yeah, if you're next in line for A.L. Hitting, you can pick.

Sorry for the delay and for any problems that I caused sgsmith. I don't remember getting a sitemail and didn't pay close enough attention to the board. That being said, I'll take 1987 AL pitching.

1927 NL Pitching

No problem, Chisock.  Juice looked back in his Sent sitemail and realized he didn't send you a note right after he made his pick.  Without a sitemail prompt, it's certainly easy to overlook the fact that you're up in one of these drafts.

Also, thanks for not taking the pitching I wanted:

1995 AL Pitching

Sitemail sent to toysboys, the next one who will be taking AL pitching in this round.

Since I am next in line for AL bats, I'll take the 1902 AL offense. Should I sitemail someone?
12/29/2011 3:37 PM
ah, I'm glad I checked in. I see I'm up for NL pitching.
NL pitching:1912: Philadelphia Phillies / New York Giants / Pittsburgh Pirates

1931 AL pitching

I already took the 1902 AL bats and site mailed DEWelch for his pick.
