Here's a suggestion.

Take 2 min and make your SSs available to play any position, instead of just SS.

You're welcome.
If you don't even comprehend what we are talking about you should probably just keep quiet.

apollo, not trying to be another jackass here, but reading through this, I agree with Mike. I think that while yes, this would be a nice fix, they should focus on working on something that affects the game more often. Good suggestion, but I don't think it is very pressing.
You're not being a jackass and I can respect that opinion. The jackassery charge was leveled toward those derisively stating the thread was closed. I really can't stand thier arrogance.

The arrogance is your continual "screw you wifs for not protecting me from my dumbassery" threads.

They make me laugh.

I can remember two times where a defensive player played out of position. One, where a SS played catcher for 2 innings because both got hurt in the same game. 2, where a catcher played left field for 3 innings and I said "f me, I assigned a C with a secondary position of LF"

Why do I remember that? Because, it's the only two times it's happened. Why? Because, I take 15 minutes each season and fill out each new player's secondary defensive positions.

Not you. It's easier to ***** and moan than say "oh wow, wasn't I a dick for not paying attention to my team"

Your so busy trying to rip me that you haven't even taken the time to understand the issue we are talking about.  The issue is not about not setting defensive position assignments.  Go back and read the actual posts and then come back.  As it stands now you are just making yourself look stupid.

Oops. Looks like it happened to death a few times in MG this season (one of the teams I happened to check).

Probably should have spent 15 minutes setting his secondary positions at the beginning of the season.

Jv, of course, is wrong. State the obvious.

Apollo, your issue is that you don't want a catcher to play ss.

You have two ss. No secondary player playing ss. So, you let simmy decide. Then you cried that simmy didn't decide what you wanted.

Quit crying, and manage your team.

This is gettng really funny now.    You can't fix stupid and I'm not going to try to explain the issue to you.  Everytime you post something you prove that you have no clue what we are talking about.  I'm trying to help you here....stop posting.

You know what's really funny?  The jackass who is complaining about the supposed arrogance of others is the most arrogant and dismissive person posting in this thread.

Maybe that person should follow their own advice and stop posting.

And the 3rd stooge shows up.

All I can see here is someone trying to make a suggestion being attacked.  Deathinahole, take apollo's advice and try to comprehend what it is that he's suggesting before shooting it down.  You really are making an *** of yourself.  I might not like what I've read from apollo in other threads, but in this one, he is trying to make a point, and people are derailing the thread with personal attacks or misbegotten notions about what it is he's asking for.  MikeT has made a decent case of trying to prove that this wouldn't improve the game much, and that might be true, but he comes off as arrogant with his "thread closed" bullshit.  This is a decent idea, and if you read his original  post, you can see how this game has a flaw in it that can cost you a game, which can cost you a playoff spot, or with the ultimate of bad timing, a championship.  I'm no programmer, but I can see how simmy could be programmed to logically come to the conclusion that your current LF might be a better option for 2b over the pinch hitter that just came in.  So as long as your current LF has 2b as a secondary position, why shouldn't simmy move the LF to 2b, and put the pinch hitter in LF?  I see this type of position switching quite often in real life.

And death should focus on his own team...

Seneca, Mercado, and Parrish all came into games at positions they weren't supposed to play.

I've already said that in my last 648 full-season games, I had 5.2 innings of out of position players.  1 bad play resulted.    IOW, I recorded roughly 17400 outs and impact of those oop plays had one negative result.    That's like .0000574 percent of the time.

I should be ashamed of myself for doing the math.

WifS should just say "This, in fact, will never happen."
1/26/2012 8:39 PM
shobob, "thread closed" wasn't as arrogant as you think.   I was just jerking apollo around for fun.   I can't close threads.  In fact, "thread closed" comments usually increases the traffic.   Don't be so serious, jerkweed.

As I have said, repeatedly, it doesn't happen to me.  It hardly happens to apollo.   It's not worth the time.

First of all, this thread is NOT about players playing out of position.  Maybe you should reread the original post.  Also, you know as well as I do that putting a poor fielder in a position doesn't always show up in the stat sheet.  Sometimes a guy doesn't get to a ball, and it's not scored as an error or minus play.  How can you definitively say that the one minus play was the only result?
1/26/2012 8:43 PM
I'm just saying that the the "thread closed" thing sounds arrogant is all.  Joking or not, it looks bad in print.
