EE's are getting out of hand Topic

My fault CB, I didn't have my sarcasm/humor radar turned on yesterday, no worries.

It's actually my fault I shouldn't have put a sarcastic point in the same post as a serious point

I disagree that it doesn't resemble real life.  Would half of Kentucky's roster have gone pro if they hadn't won the tournament a couple weeks ago?  I'm not sure they all would have.

I also think postseason success doesn't have quite enough to do with it.  And I really can't be convinced based on the evidence that aside from the national champion, postseason success really has anyting at all to do with EE's.  If it did, Gonzaga and Marist wouldn't be losing EE's while lots of other top teams skate by with stacked rosters.

Really don't think NT success impacts player's decisions much at all. Their draft stock is all that matters, sometimes a deep run helps draft stock, but in this media age the tournament doesn't often reveal much we didn't already know. Look at Austin Rivers, his team loses in the 1st round to a 15 seed, he's not even projected to be that high of a pick but he still declared. On the flip side, the entire Florida starting 5 that won the national title returned to school so they could repeat.

Real life and HD just don't mimic each other in EEs.  Every year there are real college players that announce their decision to leave early that have little to no chance of being drafted.  There are other reasons for guys to leave in real life that are not in HD.  I don't think trying to compare that makes any sense.

I'd like to see a better system in HD.  I know some coaches have tried to stash talented players by not giving them enough playing time to get drafted/leave early.  Perhaps WIS could also increase the number of transfers of players that would be talented enough to play but aren't given the opportunity.  I think that would have to be put in evals as well so you could see which players will be more demanding of PT.  Although I do think the window dressing is already in the eval - not sure it means much though right now.

NBA Draft coverage, my 2 STUD Juniors went 49th and 53rd overall.  Glad to hear they passed up their Senior year for a non-guaranteed contract.  This game is supposed to mimic real life, this is not real life.

Uh ... actually that happens in real life all of the time.

Last year there were nine underclassmen taken in the second round, and the year before there were 11.

So, while you're off base in thinking it's supposed to mirror real life that exactly ... the part you're complaining about actually does mirror real life, for better or for worse.

i'm at st francis in iba.  have lost 2 EE in the last 3 seasons.  this time a 780 rated PG who averaged 16 ppg and somehow got named 2nd team all american.  was 1 of 5 Gs to go EE.  he ranked 19th among Jr PGs.  there were more than 25 Jr SGs who ranked higher.  all i can figure is that the all american award pushed him out the door.  is there something i can do to keep guys like this around at this lower level of div 1?  do i need to resort to rationing PT and/or distribution to suppress his stats?

Ranked?

Do you mean overall rating? Not really meaningful.

How many of the other guys scored a lot, were named 2nd team AA and played for a 28-win team?

I'm actually playing devil's advocate here -- I do think there are tweaks needed to the EE system. I just don't think these last couple complaints are among the really legitimate ones.

fungo, if you have a guy scoring a lot and getting named to AA teams, it will increase their chances of leaving early. I sympathize, it was still a bit of bad luck, and I do think it should be harder for the non-BCS teams to lose guys.

Send. A. Ticket.

I've lost 7 EEs the past two seasons. 1 PG (SO), 1 SG (JR), 1 SF (JR), 4 PFs (1 JR, 3 FRESH).

**EDIT** of the 4 PFs that left:
JR Berry Harvey - 1.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.4 bpg
FR David Lewis - 4.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 0.6 bpg
FR Michael Dalton 2.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 0.6 bpg
FR Andrew Hardin 6.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.5 bpg

i see more and more teams taking crappy 1 year tranfers or jucos to keep from having EEs..... it's not a bad strategy - but it's weird to see teams like duke with a team full of studs having a 650 rated senior simply to his 1000 rated junior will stay an extra year.

who's the MVP of this Kansas team?
