brianp, you would not be able to use any player on your current roster, BL or minors, on Day 1 when Season 5 begins.   You would only be able to use players you acquire in your first 4 seasons.  That would apply to BL roster only.  No one cares what you do with minor league filler.  How you make that happen doesn't really matter.  I imagine you'd want to trade anyone with value rather than release or not re-sign.    After all, you're trying to build a team for S5.

I like the idea of completely turning the roster around.  If you inherit a stud prospect in Low A, you're forced to trade him.  Ideally, for equivalent value.

I don't like the idea of "tanking or n00b-rape" to rebuild your roster.  While that's fine for the five or six teams in the long-run, not sure if that adds any value to the world.

I dont think there'd be crazy tanking. Its tough to tank if 5 other owners are doing it at the same time, in the same league. I'd like a piece of this..I wouldnt do it much differently than I am in Guinness. except Id have to trade my prospects.

We'd be playing within the rules of HBD.  What's cheating or deceptive about that?
5-6 owners agreeing in advance not to veto each other's trade rapes?

obvious collusion

Trade rape isnt against the rules. If the other guys veto it thats there choice.  Tanking isnt against the rules either.

Agreeing to apply different standards to the trades your buddies make is collusion and is most definitely against the rules.
4/28/2012 12:36 PM
If thats agreed upon then yes but if you apply it to the entire league then no its not.  I rarely veto trades i feel its there players to use how they please since they paid there $

First, I don't think tanking is the way to go.   But that would be each individual's call.   We would play within WifS anti-tanking rules.  You know, the people who own HBD.
Second, if the world allows n00b-rape, the world allows n00b-rape.  If it doesn't, the deals get vetoed.   I already said "No crying if your deals get vetoed."
Third, there aren't 5-6 owners committed so there is no agreement wrt approve/trade vetoes.    Nor will there be.
Fourth, and probably more importantly, I would think the competing owners would veto all traderapes involving the TWC contestants(if not all traderape).

Any more questions?

IOW, all you conspiracy people are making up scenarios that don't exist.     If this takes off, and there appears to be enough interest, it will simply be 5-6 owners playing a game within a game but within the guidelines set and enforced by WifS.     You can call me a pompous ******* all you'd like but, if you think this would somehow make a world worse, you're an idiot.     A world with a bunch of openings will be getting an 8 season committment from at least 5 owners.  Owners who are dedicated to winning games in a prompt fashion.

If anyone should have any concerns, it should be the fallout after S8 of this game.   And I'm working on that in my head.   Contract restrictions so a team isn't left with bloated contracts if/when an owner leaves after "our" game is over.   I intend to do no harm to a world nor do I intend to let anyone who does this harm the world.  There will be restrictions, beyond WifS' guidelines, to ensure this.

pompous *******

You don't know me.

And, for the lucky few who get to play, you'll get to be part of the process.   I think we have to have a limit on payroll extended beyond our S8.

How you achieve the objective is up to you.  n00b-raping

You are the one who said this. If you're not agreeing to lay off each other's trades, I'm not sure why you'd even mention it.

Mike, like I said, this sounds interesting. But what if instead of just going in, taking 5 teams, doing your thing, and leaving, you took a public world, made it private, and built it up into a top world? That seems better for the game on the whole.

You are probably not impressed with my record or resume, but I understand your objective and would be interested in participating in something like this. I think the people in the world are sometimes more enjoyable than the game itself.

How do you control of inherited talent?  Even if you are turning rosters over, you would much rather start with the Nationals than the Pirates and thus winning the TWC with the Nationals not the Pirates would be less impressive.

Also, can you sketch out with more details the criteria for winning?
