Indiana Jones is a solid choice. I've honestly never had the time/patience to get through the original Star Wars trilogy, but one great movie that I did forget is To Kill a Mockingbird. Gregory Peck does an amazing job as Atticus Finch.

I'm pretty sure a 3-hour Akira Kurosawa movie making it's way onto the GD forums is a sign of the apocalypse. 

The last 3 are all contenders for my list.  I'm going to be a ***** and not narrow it to 5.  I'll add:

Silence of the Lambs (Lecter is my favorite movie character)
Vision Quest (Movie I like a lot more than the rest of the world.  Probably doesn't make Matthew Modine's mom's top 20).
The Godfather
Shawshank Redemption (probably my favorite ending)
The Departed
The Black Swan
