If Davidson is still in the game, MLB isn't negotiating anyone out. He has been terrible for a long time, especially in this current series between the O's and Rangers (both ways).
Mike...you keep saying "players and umps aren't the same!". You're right - umps (and authority figures in general) should be held MORE accountable than those they have authority over. If a person in authority abuses it or can't handle it, then they shouldn't have that job, period.
And sorry, but I find it laughable if you actually believe no umps ever make a bad call out of spite. If there's a close/judgment call, some will go against a player they don't like or have had run-ins with. Those players/managers will also get a much quicker hook. Umps make emotional decisions all the time. And no, I don't have proof, because I can't get in their heads - but it seems pretty obvious to anyone but you.
