its not, its worth 0 - you get 0 points for a 3-point shot. you get 3 points for a made 3-point shot or for a 3 point basket :)

You get 0 points for a missed shot which would have counted 3 points had it gone in. You don't get 0 points for an attempted 3 point shot. You get either 0 or 3 depending on the result of the shot. If it goes in, it's a 3-point shot. 

Ergo, a 3-point shot is worth...3 points.

Sit down, son.

 

that was clearly tongue in cheek, was playing along with your original post. i do believe its technically correct that the shot attempt itself is worth nothing, but that really has nothing to do with my post.

To review...

1. colonels was typically clueless that there is a leaderboard on the Billion Dollar Bracket site.
2. I use that leaderboard to inform as to the number of perfect brackets left at that point in time.
3. I'm accused of not knowing said information; I ignore it because, well, it's colonels.
4. Someone posts an article, in an obvious attempt to contradict my information, that is old and now incorrect. 
5. I reiterate the fact from #2.
6. I'm accused of being a hypocrite for noting, quite correctly events would seem to bear out, that there are people here that will argue with me just to argue with me.
7. I am asked by another poster very simply, where I got my information.
8. I answer the question in the spirit in which it was asked.

Failing to see the inflammatory anything here. If darnoc had just asked what gillispie did rather than trying to be a showoff and try to one-up and contradict me, then there's no problem at all.

9. Darnoc claims to have 'shed light' on the question with a clearly inaccurate post.

And that, too, is a fact.

Darnoc should be apologizing for spreading misinformation on the thread, rather than me being blamed for anything.

If 4 were true, you wouldn't be wrong.  But you're literally the only person that sees it that way.  There is absolutely no reason whatsoever not to see that article as entirely relevant to the thread as a whole.  I'd bet he would have posted it whether you had ever posted anything or not.  There's no guarantee he even read your post.  But since it didn't agree with you, he must have been attacking you...

I understand why you're so defensive.  You're such an inflammatory and aggressive person people probably ARE trying to attack you in your life in general.  If they know you.  You really attract that with your approach to everything.  But it still started with you.  And in this thread, you were ABSOLUTELY, DEFINITIVELY, and BEYOND ALL REASONABLE DOUBT the first person to become aggressive and belligerent.

This pretty much sums it up.  There was no attack on etta from darnoc, he just posted an article pertaining to exactly what the original question was.  Instead of correcting darnoc and pointing out the article was actually a few hours out of date, etta thought darnoc was attacking him, which doesn't make much sense to me.  

If you constantly **** everyone off then you come to expect people to be attacking you.

You'd really think, though, that once you've irritated everyone with your inflammatory personality long enough to look for attacks everywhere, you'd get a little less thin-skinned.

I state a FACT and someone questions me on it by posting an obviously out of date (since games are being played all day) news article.

What is hypocritical about it? It's hypocritical because of you. On that first thread I said something very similar to you. I said that you would probably argue with me that it was dark out right now. Because after all, you proved yourself to be that stubborn, and that dumb. You did argue it by showing a map of how there aren't many dark places in the country. Well guess what, I was essentially in the middle of no where southwest colorado. It was dark as f***. 

Then I find you making a post about saying people would argue with you about a 3 pointer being worth 3 points...yeah that's hypocritical...the epitome perhaps. Thank god I found that post because I actually found myself agreeing with you on multiple most for awhile. It was frightening. I was going to make a post about it but held back out of shame. Proud of myself.
